My AKG K-140s c1980, that finally bit the dust had "Made In Austria" on one side. The K-712s if not there I think it might have been Slovakia. Got them within the last four years. They're boxed up and stored with most all of my possessions the last six months so I can't check.

Germany made, pro and inventor of the headphones, mine are DT990 Pro open version, but existing in semi-closed DT880 and closed DT770.

View DT770 and other DT in all studios in the world ;)

You guys here are keen on european stuff we we european on american products, that quiet funny sometimes. LoL 😂

I guess I misspoke, it's not about the comfort of wearing my headphones, it's much more that I'm a speaker listener, my Grado SR 325 e, so an american product, sounds really dreamy. It is an open sound system, a sound experience of a special kind.  Mine is modified , I got the bigger earpads from the Grado SR 1000

@JohnJ  I owend the AKG 812 for a couple of years , sound really nice......

I wanted those too, but the 712s were on sale for a good price when I was rebuilding and decided it was time! The larger driver is light years ahead of my previous cans.

And I heard some Sennheisers at the stereo shop when I got the 140s but they were so clear and clean they sounded better less the bass than my speakers then.... bose 4 ohm 501s.

It's not a political thing, but if I need after sales support or repairs, I don't want to have to send it all the way to the US on my costs.

Also, legally, warranty in Europe is much better than in the US. Standard here is 2 years.

Thirdly, there are HUGE import taxes and shipping costs, nowadays, easily adding 50 per cent (or more!) to the listed price.

So as a European, I stay away from US import goods.

Beyerdynamic headphones come in either 32 ohm, 250 ohm or 600 ohm versions. Does anybody know what would work with my Leben CS300 and HK430 twin engine?

BTW, I wish they were making them with real leather and metal, like the akg, but then, they would be much pricier, I guess. I've noticed of late that anything made of non-synthetic materials, like real wood, leather, metal etc has become very pricey.

Currently listening to Corelli's Triosonates on my hk430 with RP160M speakers. Excellent clarity and bass!

Well 32 Ohm are fine for mobile smarthones. 250 or 600 Ohm are fine for any kind of amp. Of course you don´t have to pump up the volume level so high as the 250 Ohm has a higher sensivity. Go for a Grado SR 225 e for 200 €bugs and you´ll be fine

Yes, Beyerdynamic with noble materials: leather, alcantara, stainless steel, ... exist but it is more expensive: DT1990, DT1770, Amiron, T1, T5 ...

Thanks for all the advice! I just ordered the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (I like its airy (open) design and the coiled cable). I got a good deal for an 'open box' one for €124.

If I had the budget - which I don't, because school is about to start here in Belgium and I have three teenage kids (!!!) - I would have bought the DT1990 Pro, which has a much better overall build (noble materials!) and a detachable cable and slightly better sound, but it costs €435. But hey, a reviewer wrote that he had to replace his intensively used DT990Pro after six years... I'd say that's pretty impressive.

I thought it would be fun to post a (commercial) review here in Dutch (from the Netherlands, not my Flemish variant).

And I also posted an English language review, for the rest of the world!

I would like to finish by expressing my gratitude to all of you here who gave advice. It helped me a lot!

There he turns again . My Micro-Seiki ! There where otherwise my Marantz luxury steamer stands, stands now the small inconspicuous black box. A friend has made it available to me indefinitely. The" Camtech" preamplifier from England is connected and does its job. The Englishman sounds damn good. Was built in 1998 , was a reference device . But gonna tell you something , I can fire my RF 7 EvoTec with any electronics , no matter , she's the one and only empress of all RF 7`s in the entire world
