@MicroMara, you DO realize you have to take alllll new photos w/that new table...  😂😂😎

I did that in the past as well, anytime I spun a record I made a new pic, allready deleted lot´s pics in my attachments , because it´s limited up to 150 mB and there are many pics that I can´t erase because they´re needed for my other technical topics

So let me say @MicroMara your upgrade to Luxury Class Mercedes sound happened with that pretty little gold colored cart? The Audio-Technica? Check and see if it's one of their better fine line (Shibata) cut needles.

Hi @MeloManiac that tt was pricey when I got my first component stereo system. I went with one of their belt drive tts that drove me nuts until I got the Yamaha direct drive. Is that the stock replacement cart on yours that has the good full  sound? If so it is probably an A-T also. Those two companies stuck together back around that time.

Y'all might be catching on to what I fell into knowledge about in the early eighties.

Of course it´s a shibata needle, Model AT20SLA , but to honest  it got so much hours on the clock that it needs a new one soon , but where´s the problem ..got enough pick-ups but need to buy some headshells first for the other cartridges . Maybe will drive another one tomorrow ..let´s see ..

I have an almost brand new Shibata stylus on the Stanton 680 EEE

Eventually I will need to replace the current stylus on the Stanton 981 LZS but haven’t decided what cut is the best way to go

May go with the fine or vivid line ?

I thought I had a bookmark of that place in NY that @dirtmudd mentioned a lot back when I joined. He did not know if I was versed in the proper setup of a new cart.

found it, Soundsmith!

*different companies use different names... will look up "vivid"

Excellent articles there

Shake your groove thing...

Hey,  at about 6:30 in he talks about where the Shibata came from JVC and how it was used in quadraphonics. Listened to the whole thing it was posted right after our interaction over there.
