Young woman in her early forties. Indulging in 3 new vinyl albums as a way of escapism and to give my brain some rest: The Great Ray Charles, Cream's Wheels of Fire, Elvis Costello's Punch the Clock. Yep cancer is a Ba*tard and doesn’t discriminate That comment is from someone that had it and beat it off ( me )
mustang_flht
@MeloManiac (Note: courage for your friend) The Belgians had some flashes of genius, but it must be noted that the Italians were good throughout the game. The Italians deserve their victory because their game was flamboyant and with very good phases of play and superb combinations, even if the Belgians were not unworthy. Forza Italia, now I would like him to win the European Cup. 2 of each team I have already put here For Belgium For Italian 4

His answer: "No. I asked some of my fans. They don't care about the language. We don't understand anything, anyhow... who cares. But then again, we feel it. Music is the international language, right?" Arno is from Ostend and he speaks Flemish (a variant of Dutch), but often sings in French, or English, or Dutch. And he often stutters when he speaks (not in this interview, though), but never when he sings. He's currently recovering from cancer treatment... 2
GWSmith
Good evening, good morning Paul and friends. Well, I know we are ok here with some slight off topics. Right now, taking in a stream from WCRB and listening to an encore performance of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (as a few of us have been doing for many years now). Here is the vibe photo, but don't be fooled by the familiar seating postition when the Klipschorns were here. Tonight is a THIRD system that I have been working on.
GWSmith
Here is the 'new' system. A restored Bang and Olufsen Beomaster 6500 system (only the turn table is missing and hard to find). This is from 1990 and from different sources. I recieved needed parts from Denmark to complete the project. The optional 'Control Panel' remote sits on top. This gear was ahead of it's time and sounds amazing! Never have I had a REMOTE cassette player you can control completely from your seat. Speakers in this system are the Pinnacle AC-850ies I bought back in 1995. Stream from the laptop, to external DAC, into the B&0. This equipment is all DIN connections, I had to order special cables to make this all work...........no RCA jacks here! Here's the 'stack'
GWSmith
The concert has just concluded and I had that B&0 system cranked in the final section of Aaron Copland's Symphony #3, with the BSO's very deeply tuned bass drum being hit solidly and repeatedly through the final measures. After the applause, I was sure to check and see if the amps' blower system had turned on, but all was quiet. There was heat at the rear where the heat sinks are, but not enough to start the fan. With that, I am headed back to movie mode, same seats, but different audio gear..............I will be back soon with more from the B.I.C. table. Have a good evening and thank you all for your 'likes' as always. ............Gary 🌙
JohnJ
Gary... that B&O rig is still a good lookin' system. I recall being astonished when I first saw it in person in the early 80s at the stereo store near me. Hope everything still opens and closes smoothly. 4

Here's the 'stack' Back in the early 90s, I was a student, first in Ghent, then in Leuven, Belgium, this was the first time in my life I got into contact with high end hifi gear. It was window shopping, of course, because I could never afford B&O and stuff like that. To me, B&O seemed like what I would now call 'alien ware': it looked as is it was based (in technology and design) on UFO parts, kept in Area 51, and somehow, this Danish company had managed to extract some sound technology out if it. And somehow, they were commercialising it in Europe. In Europe, there would be a B&O shop in every major city, for some reason. I never understood, because they were so advanced (and expensive), while I was still into buying vinyl records. In that same, high end shop window, there would be Denon, still too expensive for me, but more conservative in design, and then there was Technics, which had a great reputation, and just affordable. Here in Europe, there is this specialised auction site, and they keep a dedicated B&O auction every week, apart from the other brands. Now you mentioned the special connectors etc. I think I understand. If you're interested...: https://www.catawiki.com/en/a/511407-bang-olufsen-auction 4
Full Range
Although I knew the brand Bang & Olufsen I remember here in Australia that they had specialised Bang & Olufsen outlets But I can’t remember ever listening to one of their systems 2

MeloManiac
A short report on today's trip to the local thriftstore Today I hit the jackpot, I guess some collector must have died and they put many of his vinyl boxes on sale. After my first run through, I had so many, a stack 20 cm high, which I couldn't take home (I only had a laptop case and was with my mountain bike). So this forced me 'kill my loved ones' to reduce the stack until it fit next to the laptop... Here is a rundown of the 'bounty': The numbers indicate 'sound quality' on my personal scale / on my system. Gipsy Kings: the iconic 1987 featuring in the iconic video of legendary tube amp builder Sakuma san. 8/10 A 1968 album "Messe pour le temps present// Maurice Béjart" (modern dance): early electronic music. Sounds fabulous. 10/10 Bach' Goldberg-variatons on harpsichord, Louis vander Paal: a local, Belgian recording, again excellent quality, 1974. 9/10 The Sound of Music, with Judy Garland and Chr. Plummer. Full soundtrack. 5/10 (most likely need thourough cleaning) Bach's Ouvertures/Suites by John Eliot Gardiner Errato (9/10) Vivaldi's Complete Sacred Choral Music (8/10) I bought "The Sound of Music" to give away as a birthday present to someone who is very precious to me, and for that person, it has great emotional value. I paid €13.5 for them all, and one of the items was €5. Can you guess which one?

It was 5 euro for the Gipsy Kings album. Still a bargain, in mint condition.
