GWSmith
Ok...........right now, listening to this album for the first time! I have many others of Diana's on vinyl, but this was a recent gift from my neighbor and really wanted to play it this evening. Tonight, listening on all vintage gear from 1990 ! Here is the front cover. 4

GWSmith
Listening with the newly restored Bang and Olufsen Beomaster 6500 series, here is the stack... Parts CD unit is on top where there should be a matching turn table. Tried to find one, and it is impossible!
GWSmith
....After working on this system (and I am brand new to this brand!) built in Nov. 1990, I found the quality and service access inside top notch! Sound quality is also first rate. The BIG optional 'control center' is on top. The CD drawer is made from a single machined piece of aluminum!
GWSmith
....last one for now...The B&O amp hooked to this....Here the Pinnacle AC-850 bought new in 1994 which was the flagship of the 'Audio Cinema' series. The butyl rubber surround is STILL like new. Pictured here next to the Klipsch RP-280-F tower. I had to purchase special Euro-DIN adaptors to hook to the B&O amp. All the interconnects between the components are all DIN connections.
GWSmith
Thanks Paul for the approval , I usually don't post CD content here, but I wanted to share the B&O system, and without a TT that goes with it, well, the CD was the next choice. I could do a cassette next , THAT little transport was very difficult to work on. There were 4 belts that had to be changed out!! Ok, still enjoying Ms. Krall
Marvel
Beautiful system! I really like Dianna Krall, too. Watched a great Youtube of her on a show hosted by Elton John, where he sat and interviewed DK and played different music. She played one song in two totally different styles... She played one of EJ's songs, which they did as a duet, vey nice. 3

mustang_flht
Their tangentials are so amazing, the combo with the rest of @GWsmith's B&O set would be amazing 😍 6
JohnJ
Like the Celtic looking knot on your new media display. Martian to medieval look there Great look in the subdued lighting @GWSmith 1

Martian to medieval look there Great look in the subdued lighting @GWSmith Thank you John. I have no overhead lighting in that seating area as I do in the main listening station, so, I fashioned a small clamp light on a mike stand with boom. With a 35w equiv. LED spot light, it seems to do the trick 🍷 I moved over the top of the speakers in order to get that shot as well. Glad you like the 'Celtic' motif. That I actually picked up at Michaels when I was looking for something that would display CD's AND LP's when fully opened. It was not expensive, made of some type of steel and powder coated. Ok, my LIVE FROM BERLIN orchestral concert will be starting shortly.

I STILL owe you a phone call ! What model line is the B&O TT. As you know now, mine is from the 6500 series, so it would have to look exactly like the rest of the 'stack'.
JohnJ
Shhhhh! Don't tell, in that perfectly portrayed lighting it looks like wrought iron! Enjoy those emotions that only a good conductor can get them to produce!!

MeloManiac
A couple of weeks ago, I posted a message here about my faulty needle for my 40 year old Onkyo CP1000A turntable: all of a sudden it sounded terrible, and then it started skating to the middle of the record instantly. I couldn't see anything wrong with it, not even with a loupe, and some here suggested the TT needed callibrating, which I did, but the problem persisted. So this week, a replacement needle arrived and all is well now. According to the seller (a large Dutch specialist company), the replacement needle I bought in 2017 to replace the original (from the 1980s) should last 400-600 hours, but I guess I used it for maybe 40 hours (or less), from 2017 till now, because this is my secundary system in my den upstairs. So I guess I was unlucky... I also considered upgrading to a more modern needle, eg Ortofon OM10 or M2 Red, but I didn't because I'm not sure if it would work well with this TT. Also, this TT is in mint condition, but what is it value? 50 euro? Does it make sense to put a more expensive needle on it then?

You have done the correct thing with the stylus I just remembered something that was similar to your issue with a Sonab turntable I had The cables inside the arm went stiff and caused all sorts of problems An arm rewire was needed and fixed it but it took me a while to diagnose the issue Anyway I rewired the tonearm myself and sold the TT for $120 AU
