Replacement Speakers

The sub driver was probably removed for a reason.  It may have been that the plate amp was non-working.  I would suggest you find a sub driver with which you can test the amp.  If it is working you might find a used driver of any kind to put back in there, as they are easy to find on the used market.

In other words, go cheap and go for good, not perfect.

I wouldn't put any money into it unless you're sure it's going to work.  If you can't find a driver to test with, go with Jason's suggestion ^^^ above.

need to test the plate amp first. then you have to ask yourself if it's worth replacing.

would be about as much as i would spend on it IF the plate amp tests good.

ideally you would want to hook a speaker to it. if you don't have one you can connect it to a receiver, set the gain in the middle, put a 4 or 8 ohm resistor across the speaker leads and test to see if you get a gain in AC voltage when you turn up the volume at the speaker terminals. 75 watts at 4 ohms reads 17.3 AC volts for example

ps. use heavy resistors for this. at least 25w to make sure you get a sweeping voltage increase with volume
