snooka3000
I was pleasantly surprised tonight to see a package from Bob Crites at my house. I patched the punctured passive woofer with a filter paper and glue and now just finished installing new titanium diphrams in the tweeters and the newly capped crossovers. I'm waiting 24 hours to let the glue dry and will listen tomorrow night. Any recommendations or requirements to break the new components in? thanks! dtr20
The tweeters need about 1 second to break in. Just wire everything up put the volume on minimum, then slowly bring it up to make sure everything is working properly. When you can confirm they are working properly, have fun.
snooka3000
Happy to say everything sounds spectacular. Quick recap of the project - found a listing online on a Saturday night, contacted the seller and purchased the speakers Sunday morning. Everything was stored in a basement for several years and needed work. Chorus II 1. Blown tweeters replaced with Crites titanium 2. Crites recapped crossovers 3. Patched passive woofer 4. Howards restore and feed n' wax cabinets KLF-C7 1. Blown tweeter replaced with Crites titanium 2. Re-stained cabinet with rustoleum ebony stain M&K MX-200 (was not functional) 1. Re-soldered input jacks (rca) to circuit boards 2. Cleaned pots with deoxit Left to do: 1. Find badges 2. Enjoy!!! Thanks for everyone's help. This was a really fun project!
adam2434
Love it when a plan comes together! Great Job! With the pics of the pro amp and mixer, are you going to DJ with the Chorus II's? LOL

The pro amp and mixer were negotiated out of the deal . Im pretty sure they were the source of the tweeter problems!
adam2434
Recently picked up and replaced the caps in some Forte I's. Would love to find some Chorus II's to work on. Why is working on speakers addictive? Seems like I finish a speaker project and then want to find the next one, regardless of whether the last one was a pain in the arse. Glad you're enjoying the Chorus II's.

snooka3000
Listened for about 45 minutes last night and they sound fantastic. Still have to play around with position in the room (corners vs off the wall). I'm excited for some time this weekend!

I am getting some pretty amazing results with La Scala placement using the guidelines in the link below. They are in a pretty small room that is somewhat difficult to deal with. Just thought you may find the info. of interest. http://www.barrydiamentaudio.com/monitoring.htm
snooka3000
Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to remove adhesive from grills? I've tried several rounds of goo gone. I'm thinking of buying new badges directly from Klipsch and they won't cover the leftover adhesive from the original badges. Thanks!
314carpenter
I never have luck with goo gone. Goof off! is the better more potent product. Place one dry rag behind the grill and one wet rag in front and dab. Allow the product to work, but not allow it to spread. Once it is loose give it a good scrub. Then wash in the bathtub using Dawn dish liquid, rinse and hang dry.
