I have got a new Yamaha RN 602 network amp.

Would like to pair Klipsch 260 F floor standing speakers for stereo music only.

Can this amp drive these speakers.

Amp specs

Min RMS 80 + 80 watts per ch @ 8 ohms

Max power 115 watts per ch @ 8 ohms

High Dynamic power 105 watts per ch @ 8 ohms

I don't know much about amp speaker matching so kindly help with your comments.

Thanks

Vivek,

Welcome to the forum.

Company data speak only of power at 8 ohms, which is 80 watts, but even with this load the power is much higher - 111 watts in single channel mode and 2 x 110 watts in stereo. At 4 ohms Yamaha delivers impressive 182 watts (one channel driven) or 2 x 158 watts. In this group Yamaha can boast the best noise clearance - S / N is 85 dB.

Excellent frequency response (fig. 1), at 10 Hz no drop is visible, and at 100 kHz it is only -0.8 dB for 8 ohms and -1.2 dB for 4 ohms.

The distortion spectrum (Figure 2) shows a clear advantage of odd distortions, but their level is safely low, the strongest third is at -88 dB, and the next - fifth, seventh and eleven - are clearly below -90 dB.

Fig. 3. It is evident that, with respect to THD + N distortion (as well as bandwidth), the receiver performs very well - with both types of 8 and 4 ohm load characteristics being close together. The THD + N level of less than 0.1% is available for output power exceeding 2 W at 8  and less than 4 W at 4 ohms.

I think with the above figures, this Yamaha will be just fine with your RP-260F's.
