WMcD
"It has been said an engineer is a man who can do for five shillings what any fool can do for a pound."[7] That is from the Wikipedia article on Nevil Shute. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevil_Shute There is a similar quote by PWK His novels are based on his engineering experiences and dealing with governmental agencies. Casandras are wrongly ignored. His most famous novel is No Highway which has an episode touching on the paranormal. That is not in the very good moviel which you can see on YouTube. The most spooky thing is that No Highway involved fatigue of aluminum in a fictitious aircraft called, The Reindeer." Years later, the real Comet had problems with fatigue in the aluminium structure. WMcD His novel "No Highway" was made into a move

WMcD
James Stewart has the boffin Mr. Honey down pat. There is a very funny scene at 1:18 where he is having dinner and deep conversation with his girlfriend to be. He is working on a lobster claw and needs to crack it. She offers to help. But he goes to a nearby hinged window and uses the gap to crack the claw -- then sits down as if there is nothing unusual about this technique and the conversation continues.
