Belle with Kenwood 600 or Sherwood 5000

Recommended Posts

I have a Kenwood 600 integrated amp from the 70's and a Sherwood 5000 integrated tube amp.  Both need to be checked over by a shop to see if they need any repairs.

Which one do you all think would be the best one to use with my Belle speakers?

I used the Kenwood back when it was new with Ultralinear ST-550 speakers, and the set up rocked many parties.  Sounded great.  Awesome clean power.  130 watts per channel.

I bought the Sherwood a few years back and have not used it yet.  Didn't want to power it up before it is checked over.

There going to be two different sounds. If it were me, i would have a clean and check done on the Kenwood and use it while the Sherwood is being restored to its fullest.

Welcome to the forum but really, how many folks do you think have experienced these two in your room with Belles?
It is an unanswerable question.
Make sure the electronics are in good condition and try both.

If cost to restore to serviceable condition exceeds resale value or worth to you then abandon mission.

Unless and until you have both units back to "spec" and installed in your system to compare; well....
Not to be Debbie downer but as SGT Friday liked to say "Just the facts Ma'am"

Tongue in cheek here!

I am a Belle fan.
If you are like me and enjoy laid back on the couch listening to the blues at low levels go the tube route.
If you want kicking loud rock go with SS
My opinion is worth well, my opinion.

I www'ed the two. My taste is the the tube.
Good luck on the decision my man!
