Soft Filter Circuit (?) Repair

ACV92

Recommended Posts

I have an old Marantz SR880U that has a low frequency 'thump' when I change songs on a CD, flip a radio station, etc.  I'm not sure, but I believe this is a 'soft filter circuit' that is not functioning correctly.  I would like to use the Marantz instead of the as old, or older, Yamaha RX-V590.  I always liked the sound of it with my 5.5's.

Anyway, I know neither receiver is really worth anything, but was wondering if anyone knew how to repair it, how much it would cost to repair, or if it's even worth repairing.  This is only for a 2 channel setup so I'm not worried about HT factors.  Anyway, thanks in advance.

Sounds like it is getting tired. Some new capacitors will likely fix it, but like you said, it is just not worth it.

Kind of what I figured.  Hopefully getting some Emotiva gear soon.  That will definitely fix the problem..
