back in the late 70s, when i was on a ship in the Coast Guard, I used a cardboard milk cartoon as a speaker cabinet. Can’t recall the exact size; but, anyone in the military or for that matter, familiar with those milk dispensers in a cafeteria will know what i’m talking about. A box probably about 18” tall and 10” wide ... 

When you’re underway -- you improvise.

Around 1970, my best friends brother built a pair of speakers from aluminum trash cans stuffed with fiberglass....we listened to John Mayall, Stevie Wonder and the Allman Bros for days.....

Well if the kit sell for that price why do the finished speaker cost so much ? It all must be in that terrific sub that comes with a set ?
