Wanna hear something weird about my new toy? The surrounds are much stronger and obvious. I don't know why. I'm watching the Metallica movie and the crowd is screaming from the rears like I've never heard before, and I've watched this thing probably 50-60 times. Very surprised. I don't know if it does some kind of decoding better than the PS4 or what but it is very obvious.

Freaked me out though, when I first plugged it up I accidentally pulled the HDMI cable out of the receiver a little, the one that goes to the projector, and it got some kind of weird handshake issue going on, my projector started acting like it was fried. Finally chilled out and rebooted it and it was fine but I did not like it.

In addition to my latest XPA-2 ,I just got my new iphone 5S. I have had a 4S and have had no issues outside of the texting was not going through lately for some unbeknownst reason. At first it seemed no texting only to my Canadian friends so I thought it was a glitch. The last few months I could not text anyone, anwhere from my phone....so.....I got a new one. Setting it up, I find I still have no texting. So I called Apple support and they found there was a texting option shut down for my phone back in 2013....news to me. I guess I really didn't need a new phone after all and since I rarely use a cell phone at all since I work from home, the 4S is now assuming duty as streamer for Pandora/Spotify/ItuneRadio, etc. to my living room stereo. By the way, these little ipure 20 ipod docks sound so good...and are so convenient

Couple of basics arrived today that can always prove useful.

What do you like about those Silverback banana plugs?  I have 3 or 4 different kinds and I hate them all.  It's probably what I get for buying cheap junk.

The ones I like the best have dual opposed off-set set screws, then the knurled-case screws-on over-top them to keep the screws from backing out.  The ones I hate the most of the ones from Monoprice which have the very tips screw on.  They constantly are coming loose.

I certainly don't know what the "best" kind are.

These have dual off-set screws (internally), then the external jacket screws down over the core.

So... I guess you might like these.  Smiley_Tiny_Dunno.gif  Not the best, not the worst.. but they perform perfectly fine.

For added connection, (certainly not necessary) but I also solder prior to securing the outer jacket.

#1  Back in June of 2014 I purchased a 2015 base model WRX ;  it was bad :(

+++

#2  In August of 2014 I got traded out of that car and into a 2015 limited model ;  it was good :)

After 11 months I felt like our relationship was going nowhere and kicked her to the curb .

I'm a jerk .

+++

I then followed my heart to the gal I was meant to be with anyway . Say Hello

#3  2016 Subaru STI !!!

I did this 6 hours ago so it was technically yesterday .

"Damn 23 minutes ago I turned 50 , WTH , never thought I'd make it this far ."

So, let me get this straight.  You bought TWO brand new Subaru's and were unhappy.  You got rid of both of them, then went out and bought yet your THIRD brand new Subaru, because why?  :o

You thought your luck was about to change?     :rolleyes:

You have it all wrong .

Completely different animal . A smart choice and I am very happy .

Oh, these Sewell bananas are one of my favorite things TO HATE....while they do have opposing set screws, the outer jackets are constantly becoming undone....I am always tightening them down, but mostly to no avail....Plus, although it is stated that they are non-conductive due to the aluminum or tin, or whatever it is jacket....don't believe it.

I would really, really love to hear others opinions on their favorite/best banana plugs, and why.

  Looks really nice is that a PP6V6 amp? any pics of the guts? I like the sound of a Beam Power Tube (pentode) amp lots of balls.

In case anyone by chance confused the sauces for tubes, I took the plunge and ordered all three sauces from Oldtimer; including the Hawaiian Firecracker, Gourmet Red Thai and the Gourmet Green Thai.

The amplifier is actually Pete Millett's "Engineer's amplifier" [also known as a "Distortion-cancelling Push-Pull" ("DCPP") amp], and uses the unusual sweep tubes.  The amplifier is actually a 2-stage push-pull pentode design.  My amplifier uses the 6JN6 sweep tube for the output.

Here is a link to a post I made in the Amp porn thread for more insight that includes a link to Pete Millett's page on the amp.

I got "amped" and "sauced," it doesn't get any better than that!

You have it all wrong .

Please note smiley face thingies.  :) :) :)

I'm just giving you a hard time, my friend. In West Virginia, that's how we treat buddies we like.

The car looks super sharp.    :emotion-21:

I've used them for years with my surrounds (the speakers which get moved & swapped out the most often). Never had an issue with the jacket coming unscrewed.

537 reviews & 488 of the reviews were either 5 star or 4 star.

Only 3% of the reviews accounted for 1 & 2 stars combined. And most of those were about jackets being too tight, or having stripped screws.  Other complaints referenced that  they didn't like slotted screws.

I must have failed to say that was just my opinion.

I don't love or hate them. They're "banana plugs"—I install them & never really think about them again. For me its a convenience thing—it makes for a quick & easy connect to the AVR (rather tight space back there). Additionally, it makes it easy for A/B comparisons with speaker swaps.
