What I Got Today!

There are few things quite as satisfying as creating an affordable system that sounds amazing.
No doubt. I remember going into this high end place once (actually several times)......Krell, McIntosh etc. etc.....and they had all glass walls and ceramic tile floors. Everything sounded like ***. No attempt was made as far as positioning, location, nuthin!

The cool thing was in one of the rooms they actually had some small Klipsch floor standers. RF-25's or something I can't remember. They sounded really good! I just remember me and my uncle (also a Klipsch guy) laughing our asses off at how they sounded better than speakers costing wayyyy more and the salesman giving us some line of crap.

Heard a Paragon with all Mac gear on it when I was a kid.  THAT blew me away.  Guy had a record store and sold high dollar magnavox home systems and records.  His kid was a buddy so I got to listen to it a couple times.  His dad said that's why he got the JBL line was to get the Paragon for himself.

I've seen my share of studios and cable does make a difference.  I'm just "comfy in my own skin" right now.  I don't see that changing anytime soon.  Just waitin on my toaster is enough stress for me!  :)

and what do you think? legitimacy to the claims/build/expense, or total bullshit and incremental gains at best?

It will be awhile on comparison both are top models . I had them at different locations finally hauled back tonight . Build Quality excellent on both . Not bullshit both are very good. I guess the big question would be is the high cost worth the incremental gains, which is up to the individual. As far as these models compared to anything under 10k I can say it's worth the cost me for what they bring . Now is it worth 3x 10 k lol I have to say no

Yes Sire ..a DQX 1000 build in the year 1977 till 1983 , I am currently rebuilding it completely

Sad to say that I am old enough to remember them when they were new. :(

Ability to hold three tonearms was their selling point. At the time I couldn't afford one tonearm.

Today I received a pair of new tweeters from DaveA for my 1986 La Scalas. The new SMAHL v2 lenses and DE-120 drivers will replace the K-77M Ceramic (square magnet) tweeters that are currently in the speakers.

I had planned on painting the new lenses black, but they look so good that I'm reconsidering that.

I plan to run REW before and after installing the new tweeters to see what difference they make.

This evening I was ABCing the stock tweeters in my KP250 vs the DE120 on the Crites lens vs Dave A's S-MAHL.
