Replacement for RF-3 II

Has anyone tried the speaker replacement for the RF-3 II from speaker exchange?.. Do they sound kind of the same???... My speaker is badly damaged

I thought of maybe trying to replace the top ones in each at least it would be balanced????.

PS

I sold my RF-82's because I thought they lacked too much mid range.. Some of you said these older ones have less bass and are more balanced.. And I agree 100%

The only alternative sadly is to hold out either for a full speaker that uses the same parts and cannibalize it, or stake out eBay for parts.

I haven't tried the replacement ones, but I'd almost have to go with the alternative. I'm not sure my OCD could take it.

For what it's worth, with some scotch tape (and a lot of patience) you may be able to pull the dents out. I have done so, with a speaker that was admittedly far less damaged, and it worked quite well. I also have used a replacement driver from speaker exchange and it sounded identical. I see they are no longer available :(. I sometimes see the surround speakers from this era (black dust covers) for sale on EBay for $200-300 a pair, that would get you two replacement woofers and four horns - enough to last a lifetime. I can confirm they are interchangeable. I have had these speakers for around 20 years and they continue to impress... since I moved to HD streaming and a tube amp, they are absolutely knocking my socks off.

Good luck
