Klipsch K-5 mid range horn value

Recommended Posts

I have two Klipsch K-5 fiberglass-wood midrange horns for sale.  One is dated 4/6/1955 and has the factory sticker on the side of the horn.  Serial number is #957 and it has the wooden slots mounted in the throat.  The second horn has the factory sticker mounted on the back and I cannot make out the serial number on it.  This horn does not have the wooden slots mounted in the throat.  Both horns have the cast metal driver mounts on them.  Both horns are in excellent shape.  I want to sell both of these but have no idea what they are worth.   Please review and advise on what you feel is a fair market value for these so I can sell them on the forum.  Please contact me for any questions.

Thanks,

John H.

Hi JDH,

I have seen these sell for as much as $300 each, but that may have included a vintage driver.  The one with slots (boats, as PWK would say) is the older one.  He realized that he could change the taper slightly and eliminate the boats with no deleterious acoustic effect, but at a lot less cost.  That's when the designation went to K-5-J.  I personally wouldn't feel too bad if I got $200 each.
