I didn't say it the right way: If a society doesn't exercise self-restraint will the result always be it will become a degenerate mass? OR, is a lack of self-restraint just one of several possible causes ofna degenerate mass? Is it possible for a "mass" of people to be degenerate? If you belong to the mass you can't be a degenerate as far asnthe mass is concerned can you? Perspective of the competing moralities during the transition would dictate which is degenerate. When the "mass" has settled, then the competing moralities are called "cults."
