mtbakerstu
Hello, I'm helping my parents to value and sell their vintage Klipsch speakers, which they purchased new in the early to mid eighties. I wasn't able to find a model number on the back of the set of Klipsch speakers, so I thought I would post a couple of pictures. Perhaps someone can advise on what model this set of speakers appears to be, and what is a going price for such speakers which are in near mint condition? The speakers have only been used to play opera, classical music, show tunes at a low volume, and they haven't moved from their current location in my parents living room since they purchased the speakers brand new back in the day. Any input on the model and the going rate for this model of Klipsch in near mint condition, super appreciated. Able to post more pictures if requested. Thanks, Stuart Edited October 14, 2017 by mtbakerstu
Frank1938
You have one of the best speakers Klipsch makes, Klipschorn. You should find a serial # stamped in the wood on the back of the speaker. Post the serial numbers and others will help you to sell them.
mtbakerstu
Thanks Frank1938. I see a serial number on the K-55-V driver. Is this a serial number specific to the driver rather than the speaker itself? I looked in the wood on the back of the speaker, but couldn't find a serial number. Do you have any advisement on what area of the back of the speaker I should be looking? Would the serial number exist on each of the speakers? Thanks again. Ceptorman
Those are fake, worth nothing, I'll take them off your hands! Just kidding Stuart, your parents have great taste in speakers. Like Frank said, look around the back wood edging, there should be numbers stamped into the cabinet of each speaker. Some Khorn specialist will be along shortly, providing answers to your questions. Good luck.
Davecv41
There should be a paper label on the lower part with a couple of signatures that also contains the model number and serial number. The serial number should also be stamped on the edge of the wood in the same general area below the K-55-V driver you posted the picture of. Use a flashlight if you need to. FWIW, older Klipschorns value starts at about $2,000 and goes up. These are 35 years old and likely need the capacitors replaced in the crossovers, an easy thing to do if you keep them, and won't detract from the value if you decide to sell them.
mtbakerstu
Thanks again for the feedback Ceptorman and Frank! Found what I believe to be the serial numbers. Posting pics here:

DizRotus
Where are you located? The expense and hassle of shipping those make the local market very important. If they both look as nice as the one in the photo, the market value could be in excess of the $2,000 starting point mentioned above. Ultimately, they're worth what a buyer is willing to pay and you are willing to accept. If there are paper labels on the backs, please photograph those and post photos. Also, photos of the tops are important. Often there are water rings from plants and/or drinks. If you can show that neither top has such marks, the value is enhanced. Best of luck.

As mentioned, the speakers are in near mint condition, and located in Atlanta, GA. If anyone is interested, please message me. mtbakerstu
Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I have posted to the "Garage Sale" forum for the Klipschorn Speakers at my parents house. I have also posted to Craig's List in Atlanta. I have listed for $3,850 for the pair or best offer. I hope they'll find a loving home that knows how to rock the house. Classically or Otherwise....
MJM
I have a pair of Klipsch speakers from the 70's. S/N 61342 There is also a P/N number as well as W/O number on the label. Does anyone know what they are worth today?
DEures123
I have two pairs of Klipsch speakers. The serial numbers are 97U575 and 97U576 for two that we just took down. Two more are hanging on the wall so I can’t see number. What do you think these are worth? All four are the same size. 21.5” high, 13” deep, and 15.5” wide. Thank you so much. I am in the Charleston, SC area. Debbie
Marvel
Hi Debbie, Pictures could help identify what you have. Are all four the same model? If there are labels on the backs, they should indicate the models. Pictures would have to be under 2 megabytes in size. You have to have a munimum of 5 posts before you can attach pictures. Depending on the wood color and condition, $250 - 500 per pair.
