DizRotus
Unused Duratex is destroyed if allowed to freeze. If you have unused Duratex in an unheated garage in a climate that has below freezing temperatures, now is the time to store it in a heated space. If exposed to 32F, or below, unused Duratex takes on the consistency and texture of crumbling styrofoam. I lost most of a gallon that way winter before last. Once applied and cured, 32F and below doesn't faze Duratex. It's a great product, just don't let it freeze in the can..
DizRotus
It also occurred to me. If you plan to buy Duratex to use over the winter, do so now. Neither Duratex nor Parts Express will ship to a cold climate during the winter.
CECAA850
I'll get some soon but really shouldn't need to worry about it freezing. Just trying to figure out if a quart will do a 684.
efzauner
it is water based acrylic paint.. duh.. of course freezing will ruin it. Why is this a surprise? just like any water based latex acrylic home paint.
Peter P.
Sounds just like driveway sealer. Hey; wait a minute-could Duratex actually be driveway sealer in disguise?!
Mighty Favog
Does anyone know if a quart will be enough for a pair of HIP's or should I just get a gallon and be done with it?
rockhound
Quart should do it, put primer on them first and you will most likely just need one coat.
DizRotus
A quart shoul do it @Mighty Favog
derrickdj1
A quart should be way more that enough.. If it is not, the paint is to thick and will not hold up. There is a point of being good and a point of being overboard. 1

I work for UPS and you would be amazed how many people buy boxes of wine when it's -10f or more. Those damn things always explode

codewritinfool
For reference, I've painted the LF section of one La Scala with a few coats and I've only used 1/4 gallon or so.
jimjimbo
One thing I will say is that it will begin to dry very quickly, so do one full surface at a time, and don't go back over once applied. If you are using a roller, do the final application in one direction across the surface. It takes a long time to cure but dries extremely fast.
Mighty Favog
So, if I paint them and wait for them to dry then reassemble them, can I use them during the curing time if I leave them in one place? Will they still smell during the curing period?
jimjimbo
They will definitely smell during curing. Trust me, I've done a few.....
