Kain
Any recommendations for a wall mounted shelf or wall bracket that can support the RC-64 III?
billybobg
I like a French cleat due to being able to secure the wall bracket to two studs.

Kain
That's perfect! Thanks. Would you recommend getting two of them (i.e. one for the left side of the center speaker and one for the right side)? Max width possible is 18" whereas the RC-64 III is 35.8" wide. efzauner
That thing is only 18 inches wide. You will probably only screw into one stud. You need something much wider so you can screw into 2 studs. Or just simple 90degree brackets that you can screw into the studs, then a shelf that you can slide left to right as needed to center the center.... something like this.. you dont even need a shelf,, just place the RC64 on it https://www.amazon.com/Pinpoint-Mounts-AM15-Black-Universal-Channel/dp/B002MP5JX4/ref=pd_sim_23_7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=G9S5XJ05JNVDZ8MFDQVE

The ones you linked only support 30 lbs while the RC-64 III is 55 lbs. How are these ones? They support 60 lbs: https://www.amazon.com/Pinpoint-Mounts-AM38-BLACK-Speaker-Universal/dp/B00VJ3KWOQ/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1510648287&sr=1-11&keywords=center+speaker+mounting+bracket By the way, the ones I linked above are 13.5" deep while the RC-64 III is 15" deep. No issue if the RC-64 III hangs slightly over the mounting brackets?

Kain
Someone on the AVS Forum stated that Klipsch has said not to use L-brackets to mount the center speakers because they are front-heavy and also because center speakers are not designed to be used that way. Link to post: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/89-speakers/680426-klipsch-owner-thread-1820.html#post55478750 Is this true?
willland
As a word of caution, L-brackets might not be the "best" solution unless they are reinforced with a cross beam. Bill
jjptkd
These are rated at 600 lbs each or 1200 per pair and only $10: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-18-in-x-16-in-White-Heavy-Duty-Shelf-Bracket-14835/202824731

vasubandu
I don't know if that is true or not, but I just faced the same question with my RC-7 which weighs 44 pounds and is 13.5 inches deep. The pinpoint mount was the best thing I came up with. Their website is http://www.pinpointmounts.com/AM38CCCenterChannelSpeakerWallMount and that might give you some information. In the end, I am planning to use shelf brackets and use a 2-3 inch thick oak board 12 inches wide for the shelf itself so that the front of the RC-7 will just barely stick out over the front. I read a few things saying the center speakers should not be suspended over the air, but I have no idea if they are right. I don't mind the shelf brackets because my center is low. I just saw @jjptkd post, and that is exactly what I am doing.

Bill As long as he only uses fine thread 3/4" screws (but not too many) I'm sure it would all work out.. Just kidding obviously..

I would recommend using at least a 14" shelf probably a 16" shelf as you need space behind the speaker for wire connections and the RC-7 is rear ported so at least 2 inches off the back wall for the ports to breathe. As mentioned above most of the weight of the speakers is middle to front with the driver magnets don't want the speaker to get knocked off the shelf when your subs blast some deep tones, little speakers can "walk" around and fall if not properly secured. vasubandu
If my center is 13.5 inches, and my shelf is 12" (using wood that is actually 12" then I wold have a 0.5 inch hangover in the front and 1" in the back. But with the woodowrking people I will get it from I can get a larger size and may just end up with something 3 inches thick. Do you have a sense if I want mass in the shelf that it sits on or does it not matter? If it does not matter, a simple piece of oak plywood would be easy and then I could cut to dimension.
