Shipping is free guys. We have a guy from our Facebook owners group making the drive from up there to hope and he offered to bring them for free.

That's a hell run. I just did Seattle to St. Louis a few weeks ago. 2300 miles. flew up Friday morning, got there around noon and took off cross country. Saw the sights, Little Big Horn, Mr Rushmore, a casino in Kansas City, and still made it home to StL by Sunday evening.

Count me in if this goes through.

Only one way to figure out the true market value...put them up for auction and you will find out exactly what the market will bear...

A collector would be more likely than a regular listener...15" driver-powered bass bins will always trump 12" driver-powered bass bins on the "listener" side of things with LaScalas.

On the crossover question:

1RC - La Scala & Klipschorn (later re-designated Type-A in October 1966)

I see a "1 R" on name plate, the C in the serial number says 1965, so it matches up.

Winthrop Rockefeller bought his early LaScalas for his unsuccessful bid in the Arkansas gubernatorial campaign in 1964.  He won the following election, though.

As a collector, I would love to own them and I WOULD NOT change one thing about them... specially the finish.

Those are some very large dust collectors that wouldn't sound or look good unless they were worked on. Can't imagine a collector / hoarder wanting to have these for much more than what you offered.

I love that orientation of the bass bin.

FWIW, PWK presented a paper at the spring convention of the AES, 1965 describing the La Scala of that time.  The drawings show a bass bin orientation like the ones found by the OP have.

Apparently PWK desingned the ones for Winthrop Rockefeller 2 years earlier.  Rockefeller ran against the notorious Orval E. Faubus, the segregationist.

Hi all, just wanted to say thank you for all the feedback!

We discussed on the phone today and I've agreed to sell them to the museum for a reasonable price. They can disclose the exact amount if they wish.

Now it's just up to you guys to donate and make it happen!

Thanks again guys, great community you have here.

Cleaning out a storage unit and found these! I know nothing about them, I'm not really an audio guy but I figured I should ask you guys about them before I move forward with them. I am looking to sell and located near Seattle. If you guys can give me any advice on what to check for/what I should price them at I'd be very curious to know. Bit dusty and missing outer cabinets? But the components look to be in good shape. Any help you guys can give would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

You need to type faster. ;)

Thank you RJ for helping to make this happen.  It was a pleasure speaking with you to confirm the acquisition of your speakers for the Museum.

Stay tuned...all of you that have so graciously offered to donate towards this cause. We (the Museum) will need a couple of days to work out how to handle the transactions internally.

We will be updating here with a link on how you can contribute. Thank you all!!!  The support for this project has been incredible!

One of the Admin's of the Vintage Klipsch Fans group on Facebook said that when I make a post with the donation link , he will pin the post for a couple days.

Klipsch fans are truly “die hard”, in case you haven’t figured that out yet!  We are a bunch of crazies. Thank you @rjw1678!  Hope you stick around here for awhile!  It’s a great group of folks.
