YK Thom
The countdown is on, less than an hour until kick off for the CFL's 105th Annual Grey Cup. Starts at 4pm Mountain, 6pm Eastern. The Calgary Stampeders vs the Toronto Argonauts in the nation's capital, Ottawa. Looks like it is going to be every bit as good as last years Cup game. YK Thom
Teams are warming up and it is snowing to beat 60 in Ottawa.
oldtimer
The Stampeders is a little bit cliché of a name for Calgary, so I will have to be for the Argonauts....
YK Thom
The Stamps made it to the Cup last year and ended up losing a very close game to the Ottawa Red Blacks. They will be gunning for it this year. A lot of the sportscasters are giving the Argos the edge though.
EmilC
105th? Canadians have been playing football for 105 years?
richieb
15 minutes ago, EmilC said: 105th? Canadians have been playing football for 105 years? --- It was named "Freezeball" at its inception. Ya know as in "freeze your balls" off?! Global warming necessitated the name change to good 'ol 'Merican football.

Actually football had it origins in Canada although the game wasn’t quite the same as today’s. http://www.rcinet.ca/en/2015/05/14/history-may-14-1874-how-canada-created-american-football/

Thats pretty cool. Sure does look cold. No chance of a "wardrobe malfunction" ala Janet jackson. Degenerates.

YK Thom
In Canada a wardrobe malfunction usually involves a stuck parka zipper.
EmilC
Canadian football for American dummies http://www.13thman.com/cflvsnfl.html 3 downs, larger field and 20 seconds between plays? faster game for sure.

Great post, it clearly lays out the rule differences. I have always preferred the CFL due to the overall speed of the game. The NFL is a spectacle to be sure (much larger market), but the games seem slow and choppy once you are used to Canadian rules.
EmilC
Johnny Manziel heading to the Great White North. Hopefully he got his act together http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/cfl_commissioner_clears_hamilton_tiger_cats_to_sign_johnny_manziel/s1_127_25325126?mb_edition=20171229
