Soliciting some opinions on what folks might think about the comparison between the OEM 2.5mH inductor common to many of the Klipsch crossovers (such as the AA), and a much larger ERSE inductor such as this 16 AWG unit.    Just wondering.  https://www.parts-express.com/erse-super-q-25mh-16-awg-500w-inductor-crossover-coil--266-908

I'm using them now. They tested right on spec outta the box. low dcr and saturation.  As someone mentioned, they are a pretty big component, which may be an issue on existing board, but probably not on new build.

I also used those https://www.parts-express.com/erse-super-q-25mh-16-awg-500w

-inductor-crossover-coil--266-908     They look well made and i liked the specs. No clue if they sound better. I had hard time finding them the other day parts express site is hard to navigate i think.

You may find it interesting to compare prices directly from Erse on their 14g unit:

Changing the resistance of an inductor changes it's Q. That affects the performance if the filter, but how?

I want to hear from others with more technical expertise, but in a 1st order filter, I think only the DCR matters and you will only get a fraction more output from the woofer.

I agree. We're talking .05 of an ohm difference in DCR between the 16 AWG and 14 AWG versions of this coil.

True, but if it is the  same or cheaper price to get the 14 AWG over the 16 AWG I would go with the 14 AWG, yes? Or is there a negative in going up in wire size all else being equal?
