Does anyone else feel like this is really Chuck in Indy getting even for all the shit he's taken from us? :lol::lol:

Ahem.  "us?"  I remember some of those old threads!  I never responded, but I think there were some of "us" who were more than a little mischievous, not naming names.

I can appreciate vasabandu's quest.  I do it all the time.  Sitting in a plane, driving somewhere, thinking of setups that I'd like to have, Klipsch Heritage, newer models, more subs, nicer amps, pre's, etc.  Where can I find them, can I find that sweetheart of a deal, should I spend the dough?  If you want to criticize what he's posting, well, change the channel.  It's not like it's required reading.  The funny thing is to me is that guys will criticize someone yet they continue to read the posts, and subsequently comment about them.  If it floats your boat, more power to you.  Hope you feel a little bigger about it.  BTW, I want a pair of these.  Dare I ask someone's opinion?

I guess you never heard of Jonah and the whale.  It's the thrill of the hunt.  B)

I've looked for various audio items at a certain price points, sometimes for years.  It's a lot of fun to research, to learn, to share with others who are of a like mind.  If you don't like Mr. @vasubandu's stories about his search for a certain speaker, then don't read it.

I do NOT mean that in a mean way, it's just some of us like following the stories while accepting some don't.

I don't read threads about tube amps.  I don't dislike those who talk about them, and I don't tell them to stop talking about it just because I'm not personally interested.  I simply don't read them because it's not my cup of tea.

I think my point was mostly that I’d rather just keep the personal blog posts like this thrill of the hunt as you called it in a different category other than alerts. I search here for stuff I wanna buy or stuff that’s available for sale that I’d want to check out, not read people’s personal endeavors deeeeeeeeeep into the CF-4 rabbit hole lol. That’s probably where most of my frustration stemmed from. That plus the multitude of new posts about the same thing. I’ve never seen so many new threads from the same person about the same topic all over the place and that’s probably why I felt the need to comment, which I rarely ever do.

Anyways like I told the op, whom the post was directed to in the first place not to take it the wrong way, it’s the breakdown in communication over text, which is why I don’t post much because more often than not people tend to take things way differently than intended on a computer vs in person.

Part of my point was trying to bring up an alternate point of view that maybe trying out different speakers that do come up for sale such as some heritage gear for instance, but if he kept an eye out that he’d find some Epics eventually but maybe try something else out in the meantime while he patiently waits. Just thinking outside the box since if all anyone ever talked to me about was Legends, then it would probably never occur to me to try anything else out or that anything else was worth trying out. Hell I never looked into the pro stuff ever until a month ago. I wasn’t interested in any of it. Now I want some 402’s for my setup, when 2 months ago my ultimate setup was gonna consist of khorns. So by me just trying something else out that wasn’t part of my original plan changed my long term speaker goals quite a bit. But to respond, I’m not selling my Epics for the simple reason that I used my first paycheck to buy them from a job I HATED and it’s the only good thing that came out of that job. So it’s sentimental more than anything. Otherwise I would sell them. If I ever do, someone on this forum would likely be the new owners. Good luck.

I think the thread was moved to this category by the mods.  I think it was originally posted in 2-Channel, it might have been in Garage Sale.  It was moved here specifically because it was thought to be the best place for someone looking for an item.

You know what the thread is all about.  There's a difference between "I don't want to read this" and "don't post this."  If it frustrates you to read it, I'm not being dumb, but just don't read it.  Nobody will mind.  As a said, I'm no different from you.  There is lots of stuff I don't read because I'm not interested in it.  Nobody has complained yet about what I don't read.

This is true on occasion, but I wouldn't say more often than not.  We've got a pretty hip group here, both reading and writing.  And when more is needed, there is always those goofy emoticon thingies.  B)

And another thing:  I just read everything you wrote.  You are incredibly articulate and express yourself very well in writing.  Good bad or other, don't be afraid to jump in.  The water's fine.  B)

Giving advice is pretty easy: Anyone can give advice. Anyone can make recommendations. Anyone can tell you what to do. Just because someone spouts their opinion, though, doesn’t mean it’s the correct advice for you. And some have trouble heeding their own advice. So there you go.

Come ON MAN! What is up with this obsession with these speakers. You do realize Klipsch makes like 50 other types that are WAY easier to come by and a lot of them are enjoyed MORE than the Epics right? Don’t get me wrong, Epics are great but you can’t just make these things appear just because you want them. Take it from a guy that’s had a pair of these since like 1998, you’ll never be perfectly happy with whatever speakers you buy. You’ll ALWAYS be looking for cleaner, clearer, more imaging, better vocals, etc. The search for the ultimate audio experience will never stop, so why not take all this energy in searching for something that literally pops up once every 2 years (if that) and try something else out. For instance, I heard a pair of Cornwall’s on a McIntosh tube amp and preamp and it’s one of the best sounding setups I’ve heard in years. And it’s something you could come up with in a very short time period if you so chose.

What I’m getting at here is we don’t need to hear about every single hit and miss with a pair that we all know you DONT HAVE or else we’d be hearing about your take on them after setup. We wanna hear about YOUR EXPERIENCE with the setup you actually have. We wanna hear about what you like and don’t like about YOUR SETUP, not some emails and conversations you had with strangers about how close you were but ultimately didn’t buy.

If you really want a pair, keep an eye out and you’ll eventually get em. Just please, for **** sake don’t make up another post about ANOTHER pair that got away. At this rate you’ll be flooding this site for years to come about not having a pair of speakers you want, which is a boring subject man. Try something else out. Just because they’re rare doesn’t make them the best. Good luck with your pursuit, but can we hear about the speakers you actually have and enjoy? Lol Sorry for the rant man, don’t take my response the wrong way but I feel like someone needs to be giving you alternatives that you may very well like better. Good luck.

The thing is that every single person who has one with whom I have communicated has said that the CF-4 are the best speakers they have ever had.  I mean come on back, I have a guy who has been serious about audio for 43 years and has gone through all kinds of super expensive and supposedly super great speakers and he almost can't let his CF-4 out of his hands.  I don't mean some of the people, I mean all of them.  In the meantime I have a perfectly fine system based around my favorite speaker that I have ever owned, the RC-7.  So I am not hurting while i wait.  But a La Scala would just be bigger and something I would have to settle for.  I also have company in my quest for them.

As for my posts, I actually see humor in both my fixation on them and the way that life seems destined to prevent me from actually getting my arms around them.  If people here really don't care, then I will gladly quit.  But given the responses, it does seem like some people care and may find humor in them.  At least one person scored a pair as a result.  And he drove 8 hours each way to get them including across South Dakota in January.  When people complain about posts on forums, it always baffles me.  I mean no one makes them read the posts, and the subject usually leaves no  question about what to expect.  I would think that only someone who wants a pair themselves would bother.

Don't get me wrong. I take your post seriously and if other people agree with you, I will stop.  I did not take any offense at your post in case you might be concerned about that. I really don't want to waste anyone's time here, although one might argue that much of what is said here is a waste of time in a sense, even if it is a fun waste of time and many levels above TV.  So thanks for your post, and I will see what others say.

Hi Vasubandu - been vicariously following/lurking on your CF-4 efforts where I have been passively searching longtime for a singular CF-4 to sit between my Forte IIs - displacing Academy as my center.   I am here locally in Phoenix and if can help in any manner, glad to help out.  Likewise, if you for some reason have desire or reason to split a pair - I can be your guy;)  Keep up the postings, appreciate your adventures!

Best Regards,

Rick

Rick I would really hate to have just one CF-4.  Kind of like having a girlfriend and finding out she is a guy.  I also have to say that I have some concerns about transporting them from Arizona even on a pallet.  I am still trying to get some info about that. If he decides to let go and I can't resolve my shipping concerns, I would be happy to hook you up with him, but I am sure he would only sell the pair.  That said, I have to wonder if the CF-4 series 1 might put up a good fight to replace the Forte II, and then you would have CF-4 across the front.

In the meantime, I looked at the Academy centers once, and a lot of people told me to keep the RC-7 because they were way better.  If you have not considered them, you might.  It is hard for to imagine LR speakers that an RC-7 could not keep up with.  They are my favorite speaker that I have ever had.

I think that in a forum like this you have to give every statement about you the most generous interpretation possible.  A lot of humor gets lost in the translation, and every mildly critical post can appear to be harsh.  At the same time, even humor often has a purpose, so I also try to consider that kind of thing from the perspective of other people.  I think that we all want to contribute, and sometimes what we have to contribute is more interesting to ourselves than to others.  Thank God for the Coffee and Cocktails thread or we would all be driving each other nuts.  I was to excited to find this place that at first I put up way to many posts that were either duplicative or asked things that I could find out if I looked a little harder, and when people told me that I realized that they were right and mostly stopped it.  I still don't fully understand all of the the community standards, and I am sure that when I get them wrong, people will let me know.  My impression is that everyone here is genuinely nice and shares a passion.  I would never be offended by anything that anyone said, even if they were trying to offend me.

I really don't understand why someone would be offended by your choice in speakers, or your intensity in finding those speakers. All they need to do is not read your post, it's just that easy. I see the humor you're injecting into your post, you have a way at laughing at yourself, pretty good trait in my book. Post on.....it doesn't bother me any.

ps....if you want to find your forever Klipsch speaker.....check out the Palladiums :D

This is an open forum and this thread is about trying to obtain Klipsch speakers so it's relevant. As to having this in the "Alerts" section well this is where things get a little confusing. Posts with active links to CF-4's (or CF-3's) for sale that are up for grabs do belong in the "Alerts" section but most of the other posts in this thread not discussing the availability of any specific set of speakers currently for sale should probably be somewhere else.

I know it would be extra work but this thread should probably be moved to a discussion board 2 channel or misc. or whatever with active links posted in the "alerts" section and possibly post the link from the alerts section in this thread for discussion. That should clear up any confusion but who knows, people would probably still complain..

@boricua2480 I did not think there was anything mean or inappropriate about your post, and I understood the other issues that you raised.  It is true that I don't talk much about my setup but that is in part because I am not sure how many people would understand transforming RF-5 into RC-7 and enjoying it.  I kind of worry that people would say that I am missing something and demonstrating my inexperience by not getting a pair of the new but already legendary RF-7 iii.  So it seems in an add way that others might relate more to wanting an older speaker and not being able to find it.  And truth be told, I keep mentioning the CF-4 just in case someone here has a pair that they will part with.

As for your CF-4, they were born of hate, and if you hated to part with them, that would be poetic justice.  And what could be more sentimental than ending my journey and my endless posts about my quest for a pair of CF-4?  Lastly, if you sold them and someone here did not get at least a chance at them, you would be confronted by a concerted cascading chorus of complete and comprehensive condemnation of your character by the collective crew here (that alliteration is from my first year professor in law school that I still remember 28 years later - my classmate and friend leaned over to me and said "holy alliteration batman") that would follow. This last paragraph was one of those jokes that don't read like jokes.  I hope you least let them out on occasion and listen to them.

Work is slow right now so I figured I’d check the responses. For future reference, if I ever respond to anything here and if it sounds rude or whatever, that’s not ever how it’s supposed to come out so don't take it as any sort of divisive attack on a member here. I type the same way I talk to my friends, usually sarcastic and waiting for a smart *** remark back because that’s how we talk to each other. Sometimes I read my texts and wonder how others would take a response and now I know the answer. Anyway, point is I haven’t read any of your posts I just saw what seemed like several posts on the same topic in different categories and after I started to feel the extreme obsession you had in finding these I thought I’d give you an insight from someone who has a pair and maybe grab you by the ankles out of the rabbit hole for a bit so in the meantime while you’re waiting for a pair to come up, that maybe you could try another pair that are as good or better.

In response to your point about anyone that has them not wanting to give them up, idk, I have enjoyed mine for a long time now but in my opinion they won’t be my end-all speakers, I just have a hard time letting go of ANY of my speakers. But after several moves over the years they only really sounded great in my last house on the long wall with 12 ft ceilings and after countless hours playing with location and angles and different receivers and amps. And then I had to move to the current house that has no room for anything until I finish the basement which sucks.

The only reason I keep mine are because it would be too hard to find another pair if I decided I wanted to be nostalgic and get another set. When it’s all said and done I’ll have my kp-456’s morphed into kpt-942’s and that may very well be my last speaker set...until I find jubilee bass bins...then THAT’ll be it...not really though. See my point? Lol.

Keep up the search and you’ll find them. I’m on the prowl for some k-402’s myself so I fully get the non stop search so someone doesn’t get them 1st. But when I saw people sticking up for you and after rereading my post (which I wrote half asleep on the couch because it was a cold, rainy day), I realized how quickly a sarcastic post turns some people into taking sides and turning tribal, and diagnosing every detail, it was ultimately just to put a little birdie in your ear and get you thinking of all the other alternatives until you do find a pair. The 4’s do come up, just not often. I’ve had alerts setup for years on these and I get emails on every pair that comes up but rarely. But in my opinion, if I didn’t have the Epics and a I saw a pair of nice 4’s and I also saw a really nice pair of La Scalas or Khorns, for instance, and I had to buy only one pair at that moment, it would be either one of the heritage line all day long. They are just awesome sounding. The draw to the 4’s is that they’re rare, not sure why either because the Legends come up way more often and are similar for the most part. Maybe they didn’t make as many of this series? Idk. Anyway, good luck. You’ll get your pair, just be patient. They do come up on occasion.

Well I wouldn’t worry what anyone told me about my setup and you shouldn’t either. You already have an awesome setup. I bought my CF-4’s when I went to the Klipsch dealer and told them to play Pink Floyd DSOTM and AC/DC Thunderstruck and they did a great job getting the hairs on my arms to stand up so I bought them, even though at the time I REALLY wanted the Ref 7’s that just came out. Since then when I got the 4’s I’ve heard others that give me that same feeling and more (Cornwall’s, khorns, and some B&Ws are at the top of that list) but regardless, I purchase what makes my music come alive. If someone told me I was wrong or missing something in a setup I enjoyed then it really wouldn’t make any difference to me. I know what I like. But at this point in time, I’m not selling mine. I’m going to continue to horde until there’s nowhere left to put them. Then I’ll get a commercial space with a loading dock like the guy I bought my 456’s from. No joke. He had a loading dock. That’s how deep the rabbit hole can go. Thats when you know you’ve made it.
