Pegboard cabinet door grills

Recommended Posts

I have recently completed the construction of cabinetry which contains a pair of Cornwalls. The cabinet doors are designed to have a grill to conceal the speakers. I have thought about cloth, perforated metal and perforated mdf. Then I thought about the standard pegboard used in garages because it inexpensive and easy to work with. However I wonder if it is acoustically transparent. I welcome your thoughts. Thanks

Pegboard is not acoustically transparent, and would probably resonate.  Perforated metal could produce problems, as well.  Use cloth.  Google fabric companies that have lines of grille cloth.

Here are some vendors.  There is no guarantee that they are truly acoustically transparent in the high frequencies.  Since there will be no light coming from behind, use the thinnest material you can.
