The current carrying capacity of a wire is based on the AWG size and material.

There is no difference in rating between a solid or stranded conductor of the same AWG size installed in the same conditions.

Now we have a differing of opinions.  Either of you have links related to your opinion?

National Electric Code Table 310-16 is the authority.

From the article.

Areas of solid and stranded the same:
The total cross-section area, AWG or "circular mill" size of a stranded conductor is equivalent to that of a solid conductor for the same designated wire size. This means when looking at a "Number 10 solid wire," compared to a "Number 10 stranded wire" the latter will look slightly larger in diameter but has the exact same total cross-section area of conductive material as the solid Wire. This means the current carrying capacity is the same too.

I have a printed table, will have to find where I got it and will post the link - Found it:

From the text:

The AWG table below is for a single, solid, round conductor. Because of the small gaps between the strands in a stranded wire, a stranded wire with the same current-carrying capacity and electrical resistance as a solid wire, always have a slightly larger overall diameter.

I wonder what "slightly larger" means.

Hi Gents,  the wire & the terminal forks were delivered yesterday. I did measure the barrier block for the correct size. When my cross overs come in, I will install new 14 ga. wire from the cross over to the woofer connections on the terminal block, then new 14 ga. from the woofer to the terminal block. The mid & tweeter, I'll be using new 16  ga. inside & out of the cabinet. I'm going to make up a pair of 12 ga. & 14 speaker wire, to see if there will be any difference in sound. $8.00 for the xtra wire isn't going to brake the bank.

BTW the Knu wire is very flexible, I was very surprised. Just waiting on Al !
