savasana
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and would like to hear your opinion on this. I'm planning to buy a pair of 260 F's, as I've heard and read so many good things about those bad boys. I'm listening mostly to vinyl and I love the heavy stuff. My only concern might be the amp, I'm using for the moment (Marantz PM5005). I don't have the budget for a new one right now and I'm not sure if this one will do the job. Any thoughts on that? Thanks for your help!
wuzzzer
Marantz and Klipsch go very well together. You'll enjoy the combo.

That amp will probably run you out of the room on those speakers.

savasana
Funny thing. I've asked the same question on Amazon and I was told that the MArantz PM 5005 is "too weak" for those speakers. I was told to upgrade to a Marantz PM 6006, but to be honest, I'm not really sure, if that's gonna make a big difference? Any thoughts on that? RoboKlipsch
If you sit within 10feet of the speakers any amp is enough. Amazon does not know as much about Klipsch as the Klipsch forum knows. only if you crank music or theater at very high levels...105+ all the time will it leave you short. at 10feet you would have just about 105db sit closer you have more, sit further less most people listen to music from 75 to 95db
Ceptorman
I think it will be fine. Listen to them with your amp then decide if you need more power, but I doubt you will.

savasana
So finally I'm thinking about buiying those RP-280f towers instead. However, is there a big difference to the RP- 260f ? I'm listening to vinyl mostly, sitting quite close to the towers, So I'm not sure, if there's gonna be a big difference. Regarding the amp, I'm torn betweeen the Marantz PM 7005 or PM6006. What are the experts recommendations? Thanks for your help guys, it's highly appreciated.

Not sure what "close" means but in a smallish listening area there will not be a huge noticeable improvement. 1 hour ago, savasana said: Regarding the amp, I'm torn betweeen the Marantz PM 7005 or PM6006. Tough to say, no experience with either. I do know that the 7005 weighs 5 pounds more than the 6006 which indicates a beefier power supply. vs Bill
