Probably warrants a repeat!

Welcome to the forum, keep in mind that horns are honky!

You may want to look into the Reference series specifically the RP-280F.  I bought some Heresy lls for my lady friend and was not impressed at all.  I was not using a sub however.  Could have been the room.  The 280F I bought next were a very noticeable improvement.

My amp isn't a Mission it's a Cambridge Topaz (my mistake) it's fairly basic if I am honest but does the current job.  https://www.richersounds.com/cambridge-topaz-am1-blk.html

I have never been able to hear Heresy IIs or IIIs.  I have stayed with the H Is because they match my La Scalas.  I would love to be able to comment on the differences.  People I trust like the Is and IIIs best.

I based my recommendation of amplifier power and subwoofer on your stated music preference of EDM, hip-hop, etc.  For most other genres, 20 watts/channel is plenty to drive Heresies, especially in a room that is 8 foot x 8 foot.  Classic Rock and Jazz will be very satisfying with a mild bass boost and no subwoofer.

I think I see a Mission bookshelf speaker in your picture, like an LX-1 or 2.  If yours are like that, Heresies would get as loud on 20 watts as those Missions would on almost 200 watts.  LX-2s are rated at 86.5 db 1w @ 1m; Heresies are rated at 96 dB 1w @ 1m.  That 10 db is equal to 10 times the amp power.  To get that level of sensitivity is such a "small" (!) package, Heresies give up low bass (below about 65 Hz).

You may want to buy an amp with more power, but you can wait until it is comfortable to do so.  Perhaps:

Just had a message from a eBay seller.

'Walnut finish - imported mid 90s, I was the Klipsch UK distributor 92-99.
I have 3 pairs left.'

They are II's. I could check them before purchase. I would love to know the differences. Concerned II's may not be worth paying for when III's are also worth saving extra for.

Tom,

NOS Heresy IIs are an unusual opportunity.  How close are you to Solihull?  To be able to get a pair of NIB H2s for approximately half the cost of NIB H3s is worth serious consideration.  While 3s might be better, IMO, they’re not two times better.

You were right to think refurbished H2s at £850 were worth considering, which makes NIB H2s at £875 an even better deal.  Start the car.

If the seller has a BIN of £875, a cash offer of less would probably be accepted. Try that with Amazon on a pair of 3s; it wouldn’t work.

No.

The following link is for other forum members to let them know how close you are to Solihull.

Tom-

My apologies for using American slang or idioms.  Please don’t be shy about asking for clarification.

You must sense by now the consensus is to buy those speakers.  You can feel the envy of those not ten miles away from new Heresy2s.

I thought NIB meant Nativity In Black, by Black Sabbath, and NOS meant nitrous oxide system to increase the horsepower of cars?

It has been my experience that Klipsch Heresys, any iteration, near-field and elevated to ear-level are a rewarding listening experience.

It was the original Heresy that hooked me decades ago.

I have only owned 1’s and 2’s. I preferred the 2’s.

What used to be called a “loudness” button, or on NAD equipment “bass eq” worked wonders for them. Klipsch speakers have a very balanced tone, and increasing the bass usually required a similar increase in treble to maintain that balance. At lower listening levels the results were always impressive.

”Herseys are the gateway drug to Klipsch”

You are going to need a bigger house.

Welcome to the forum!

I've stayed in Sollihul and Birmingham. Toured the Land Rover facility there and was very happy.  :)

I would be bidding heavily on this if I were you:

A nice holiday to the south beach would be a bonus. These are absolutely ROCKIN speakers and would destroy Heresy's.

edit: The Cornwall III's are $2,200 or £1,570 each retail. Here are some misc heritage specs: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_-5nvuxy-j7MEFDVXdnS0FtWXM

Of course, I was kidding about the club, but not the H2s.
