New Honda Mower

I have a Craftsman mower with a Briggs & Stratton 7.0 hp motor that was bought new in 2002.  It was an open-box buy and I remember the price to be right around $300.  It starts up every time and it's been a workhorse, used every summer since 2002. It hasn't lived an easy life either.  Maintenance hasn't been done nearly as often as it should.  Several years ago the motor started to struggle and I thought it had run its course and was starting to price new ones. I then decided I should probably try cleaning the carburetor and when I did that I found the air filter was clogged with dried up mud.  I cleaned that up, cleaned the carb and changed the oil and it started up and ran just like new again.

I've probably gone and jinxed myself now and it probably won't work tomorrow when I need to go mow the lawn!  😨

This isn't my mower but I found a picture of one that is identical to mine (other than my bag is black).

That's funny because it seems to go that way sometimes.

Hope not, something like that cost much more now.

Well, I mowed the lawn today and it started right up as usual.  However, about the time I finished the front lawn it died on me, kinda like it does when it runs out of gas.  I was sure I had enough gas in there but checked anyway.  Sure enough, there was still plenty in there.  My first thought came back to my post above -- it had never died like that when there was still gas in the tank.  I tried starting it again and it started right up.  I finished the rest of the mowing without issue.  It was probably just its way of telling me not to tempt fate!
