My TT is a Redpoint Model D, very few of them made I think no two are the same color so I guess that and the price make the numbers small.

Nice table buy the way !

I wish you luck ....

An unlikely suggestion -- call Jolanta Conti at  Basis Audio.com to see if she knows of any used Basis 'tables for sale around the country.  They do show up, infrequently, and thats how Garymd got his very nice 2001for a very good price at least a decade ago.  AJ Conti stepped in with a nearly new table, somehow correctly cut for his tonearm.

That could save you a lot of trouble if successful if you're interested.

I finally looked at a Redpoint pic, and that's a turntable!  Hope you didn't mind suggestions of a more pedestrian-looking Basis.

Larry I read your post above and was gonna suggest you have a look at the Redpoint but, I see you already have. LOl!!! It's all good brother besides the problem is not with the TT it is just the residue from the new pulley. I can always go back to the old motor or have a new pulley made.

Yeah, I was curious and looked it up too. A $25K turntable? Obviously a thread I have Zero business reading ---

Well it's not about the TT it's about the pulley and the material used, so feel free to say something.

At that price the tolerances should be held to +_ .0005"

Like I said before it's not the tt that has an issue, it's the new brass pulley I had made for the new motor.. BTW the original pulley was also brass with a mylar belt....

Ask them for the Rockwell hardness number on the brass they used.
Brass is too soft for the Rockwell chart.
We use the Brinell hardness chart at work for brass and bronze.

As I said in the update, I am now using a SS pulley and I am still getting this residue. Which seems to indicate it's the belt but, with my old SS pulley there was never any residue.

Which makes me think maybe it was something the shop used in the process?
