Greatest Albums of All Time

Yeah there is so much.  By sales dsotm is the top.  But sales are not the criteria for this little survey.  What are the criteria?  Our opinions of course.  Close to the Edge is every bit better and more musical than dsotm.  But pimply faced teenagers of the time didn't buy it as much because it wasn't as immediately accessible to their fragile little minds. (minds that were later to be warped by evil professors if they went to college)  (more listeners of Close to the Edge went to college than listeners of dsotm) (what do I have to base that on?  Nothing I just made it up as wishful thinking, knowing it is probably not true given my experiences with fellow collegiates)  The bottom line is enjoy the thread and see what your fellow forum members think, no matter how wrong they are.

I don't know why Jeff chose such a broad topic but given I don't listen to 2-channel anymore, the top of my list would one of two Talking Heads albums on multichannel--Remain in Light or Speaking in Tongues. I love the stones and could name a couple, but when you watch the concert videos it reminds you that there are too much to mention...Of course, Joshua Tree is a must insofar as albums are concerned and I would put John Lennon's Imagine up there as well....

There is too much and it depends on what one likes, the day of the week, what you ate that day and more. I like DSOTM, but WYWH is a great album too. Not much of a Queen fan in that the lyrics were too shallow, for me. Zeppelin: 3 is great, as is HotH, PG and they matured into ITTOD. Metallica had several offerings that went well from start to finish. A couple of Rush albums plowed deep enough and went well together. Although Tool had several great songs, there was no offering that I liked from start to finish. Godsmack, the album, Awake and Faceless are great at the gym.  Yes and Alan Parsons were okay, but give me Supertramp any day of the week over them.

I won't attack anybody for what they like!

I remember when that LP came out, and they can harmonize, also had me whistling their songs for a while back in the day:smile:

Highway to Hell had nary a bad tune on it either back then!

I have enjoyed so much from getting a CD or album. I listen to it and love hearing the great songs the didn't get overplayed on the radio.

The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon are on another level in writing and composition. Breakfast in America is incredible as is Crime of the Century. One I listen to end to end, over and over again is Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours.
