We still do not yet know where the drive for truth comes from. For so far we have heard only of the duty which society imposes in order to exist: to be truthful means to employ the usual metaphors. Thus, to express it morally, this is the duty to lie according to a fixed convention, to lie with the herd and in a manner binding upon everyone. Now man of course forgets that this is the way things stand for him. Thus he lies in the manner indicated, unconsciously and in accordance with habits which are centuries' old; and precisely by means of this unconsciousness and forgetfulness he arrives at his sense of truth.

a politician's lie

How do you know it's a lie if you don't know any better in the first place?  That's where we are.

If a politician opens his or her mouth, it's a lie.

We live in an information age and lies are more easily more exposed for those who care about the truth---The sad thing is quite a few Americans don't care what's going on and get caught up in the propaganda game of saying "everyone does it," when in fact it really is being taken to a whole new level....I used to blame the media now I blame our citizens.

I think individual belief creates the state we are in...

So are beliefs passed on from house to house? Or are they genetic?

I was watching a Jack Benny Show this morning, Jack was talking about buying a suit in China for 12 dollars, he went on about how he had ventured off the main tourist shops down an alley to find this shop where he purchased this awesome suit...

He got a laugh for pulling his eyes up at each end........
