Oicu812
I dug around, but could not seem to find what I was looking for. Unless this is the Heresy 1.5 version that I have seen referenced? Anyway, I was looking for another pair of K-55-V Heresy 1's to use as surround speakers, and I needed a cutoff date so that I am matching the horns. Frzninvt
1983 would have been most likely the last year for the K-55 in the Heresy, 1984 was the transition year (Heresy 1.5's) and in 1985 the Heresy II came to be.
rplace
You sure about 85? I've got two pairs as surrounds and backs in a 7.1 HT. Tiny terminal block for wires and suru look like heresy 1s. Here is 1 tag from each pair
JohnA
I don't believe Klipsch put a K-55-M in a Heresy of any sort. The change to the Heresy II squawker (K-53, K-52?) began around 1984, perhaps mid-year. Klipsch did not track that change as they did not revise the name until the new cabinet, woofer and tweeter were adopted. Since it is some smoother, a K-55-M might well be a good choice for a squawker driver. Sadly, I read there are no more OEM diaphragms available for it. This is not to say that the K-53 is not also somewhat superior to a K-55-V; I have never seen a comparison. In short, if the Heresy has a Letter Code serial number, it is an HI (with K-55-V); if all numbers and labeled Heresy, it is what *we* on the forum call an H1.5.
Oicu812
Fantastic information, gentlemen. I really appreciate it! The reason why I asked is this eBay auction for some Heresy 1's: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Heresy-speakers-series-I-consecutive-serial-numbers/163140553557?hash=item25fbef4b55%3Ag%3AzOYAAOSw7VRbQjz-&_sacat=0&_nkw=klipsch+heresy&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2507978.m570.l1313.TR7.TRC1.A0.H0.Xklipsch+heresy.TRS1.TSS0
HDBRbuilder
K-55V was still being used when I left Klipsch in September 1983....K-77M had been in use for a number of years by that time....since sometime around 1979-1980, if I remember correctly. JohnA
Not likely original, but probably sounds like a Heresy. What are the SNs of that pair?
LalaWoots
The Heresy Industrial speakers I have originally came with K-55M drivers. IIRC they were manufactured in 82. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He mentions in the auction that the serials are consecutive, but doesn't either show them in a picture, or give them as part of the description. Laziness. Here are two auctions I found. These appear to be original, the "W" set has K-55-V squawkers (and seem to be built later into 1981), and the "X" set has K-52-H and are being sold with the original Klipsch box (and seem to be built early in 1982). So it appears to me that the switch occurred between 1981 and 1982, from looking at these photos: 117W496 146X056
