=== you’re not implying ‘Bama “outspent” other programs, are you? That can’t be, otherwise  this is no longer “amateur” athletics.

Saturday football in the Fall is watching the NFL/shoe companies farm teams getting you ready for Sunday’s Big Show. Yeah I know -

“student athletes”. Not at this level —

Alabama in the 70s, USC, Florida State, Miami, now Alabama again, they all seem to ride high for a while and then drift off and eventually we get another dynasty of sorts. The foundation is laid with recruiting though. Win only a couple of championships and recruiting gets a whole lot easier.

He not only implied that he suggested it.

I was making a point that when one team has obviously better players than the other team the games are lopsided and unentertaining.

All things being equal there is no incentive to be competitive, to excel. The 'Participation Trophy' principle then comes into play.

=== there is really nothing to imply or suggest that hasn’t been found over the past few years. The NCAA is a complete joke with little enforcement and no backbone, Nike, Adidas and Under Armor are behind every Big Name program “contributing” hundreds of millions $$$ so “their” players are “drafted” by the school wearing their logo. It is what it is —

hmmm... Sounds like a conspiracy. Seems it would be advantageous to be a "Big Name program" in that case. Getting there would require a team to be competitive, to excel.

The Wolverines played probably their most complete game of the year against a quality opponent as LSU was laying an egg.

Welcome to the College Football Playoffs, Michigan.

Beating Penn State this year will not launch them into the playoffs.

Northwestern gave them more trouble than PSU did.

Big 10 is a weak division. Michigan is peaking at the right time.

B1G weak?  Come on man...  ichigan isn't IN the playoffs yet.  IF they're peaking I hope they start sliding backwards before they hit Cbus!  OSU has some MAJOR work to do before then or they're going to seam us to death with the young D-backs we have.  Excuse?  Fact.  An old  sports-writer told me once that if you TRULY believe OSU is gonna win to bet the other way.  You've NO idea how many times he's been right!  Lotta ball left before that last weekend and "on any given day."  Just a bit of random insanity...   :)

Congratulations to the Northwestern Wildcats for winning the Big 10 West.

Northwestern once again leads  NCAA posting a 99% graduation rate for its players. The NCAA average is 75%

Well done, Northwestern.

Hi, not doubting that Northwestern deserves many accolades for it's academic success, but wondering if you could provide your source?

Google “Northwestern Football graduation rate.”

The following link goes to statistics released by the NCAA in 2017.  The 2018 statistics are due any day.

“Graduation” might not be the most important statistic.  My sister-in-law has worked with “graduates” and non-graduates (football players) from Michigan State and Michigan who could not read at a fourth grade level.
