Kp-201 pricing?

Is there anything special about the kp201s? I know a lot of people on this forum love the kp line, but is this just a heresy II?

Kind of a Heresy on steroids. Better crossover for higher continuous output. Also, I believe there may be protection built in to some models so you cannot fry the tweeter. I know that when I A/B my Heresys and my KP....whether it is my 250 or 201...the KP wins in overall sound every time.

IMO, the prices are similar to Heresy.  Each has advantages and disadvantages, depending upon anticipated use.

In the process of providing speakers to a local middle school band, I acquired two pairs of KP-201s, two pair of H2s, and a pair of HIPs.  The band director chose the KP-201s over H2s, which was the right choice for that application.  Surprisingly, my brother preferred the other pair of KP-201s over H2s.

Tim @teaman got a great deal on KP-201s for $250 shipped.  My experience is ~$400/pair.  The attached photo shows one of the KP-201s for the band.  In the photo it’s upside-down.  In the band room it’s ~20 in the air angled down pointing into the space. Tweeter is at the bottom Chipotle style.

A pair of KP-250 II just sold today at Guitar Center for $249 plus $28 for shipping. MusicGoRound also has a pair for $299. They are on these sites almost weekly, if not monthly at similar prices.

So I picked these up last Saturday. I just got a chance to clean them up and take pictures. I also picked up this amp, equalizer, etc setup from the guy. His family used to have a restaurant with a club upstairs. This was their system. Anyone have any thoughts on the electronics? 0c236c08458ca47defb4bdb3e71f6dc8.jpgad024381c75b228d11bec113cee6c4f7.jpgbb4d4eb85dfc3dcacbc99a6912ae8a5c.jpgcc121f9f47533c685da0596c851fa3d2.jpg

I just noticed your screens are attached with 4 screws.  Both of my pairs have 6 screws.  I believe yours are newer.  The cost of screws must have gone up. [emoji57]
