Help me build a simple office setup?

Hello All,

 

Just moved into a new, office and I am looking at adding a medium quality 2 channel setup.

 

Here is what I am currently using:

 

- Lenovo Yoga 920

- B&O BeoAy 3 (Bluetooth streaming from Yoga)

 

Like the title mentions, I am looking to make a sound improvement.

 

I know budget is everything with thes “help me build xxx” threads so let’s try to keep it around $500 and I am willing to go used or refurbished, to get better sounds out of that budget. I can also spend more, of the additional money gets me greatly improved audio.

 

I listen to everything from the 60’s hits all the way up to 90’s rap, with classic rock and country mixed in so my taste in music is pretty eclectic. 

 

I was just thinking about buying some powered speakers like The Sixes or AudioEngine A5+. I also was thinking about adding a DAC but that is where my audio knowledge dissipates drastically.

 

I would love to hear your thoughts, to assist me in making the right decision.

Did you ever get anything set up?  I bought The One from Cory and it is an awesome sounding, very versatile speaker.  Bluetooth connectivity works great on it.  I haven't connected anything to the 3.5mm jack yet but it's nice to have that option as well.
