zeron
I'm considering to buy a new active sub. I'm interested in knowing how much life span I can expect from today's decent active subs because most of today's subs are powered by D-class amps and I've read that due to their design, they are not expected to last as much as A/B amps. (Is this true?) If today's active subs are expected to last only a few years (2+ years), I don't think I want to invest too much in one. Emile
JBL 15" 400W sub ... 4 years Dayton Audio 15" sub ... 6 months ... OK; it's a new "build" with an external 1000W amp. Sure it will last for years Subs with build in amps seem to have a shorter lifetime but no clue

pzannucci
I would think Class D based subs that are cooler running and typically less parts would last longer than A/B amp based subs. Considering the amount of vibration though, it'll likely have to do with the quality of that amp not being shaken up and rattled apart.
