Gorm
For Sale: MHDT Pagoda DAC. Top of the line MHDT DAC. Very smooth and detailed with an awesome sound stage and presentation. Unit is OEM and unmodified. I did roll a couple of tubes in it, and 3 tubes will be included with the unit. 1. Tesla 6GC42 "Pinched waist" tube. 2. 5670 GE Tube - The "stock" tube that came with the unit from MHDT. 3. Western Electric WE396A. This is the tube I ran the most in the DAC, as it was the best of the three for my system setup. The DAC is in very good condition. Please see the multiple pictures for details. Looking for 900 plus shipping. Thank you.

Shakeydeal
I just bought one of these last week to replace my Havana. What are you replacing this with? GLWS

GLWS Haven't replaced it with anything yet. I'm downsizing my "listening room" system. I'll have the amp / components from the speakers on here in the week. muel
It'd be great to hear about comparisons with the Havana! The Western Electric was my favorite tube for that DAC.

(marked with J ? ) thanks All Pagodas were supposed to have dual PCM1704-J chips. 1 hour ago, muel said: It'd be great to hear about comparisons with the Havana! The Western Electric was my favorite tube for that DAC. I received the Pagoda yesterday. Initial impressions are pretty good. However, this one has been modified with: 4) TX2575 resistors (2) Shinkoh 1W resistors (2) RelCap .1uF TFT Teflon capacitors (2) Jupiter HT .047uF capacitors (2) Sonicap Platinum 1uF output coupling capacitors. I'll do more listening tonight. Shakey
awsjr
Shakey - yes and no.... earlier pagodas have dual PCM1704 chips but not the J.. did you mean 0.47uF for the Jupiter capacitors ?... good choice on the upgrades... but CUTF output caps are worth a try... I have a maxed out Havana also.... Gorm - good luck with your sale... great DAC... the PCM1704 "J" chips are supposed to be a higher grade... either way it'll sell
Gorm
How do you tell if you have a J chip or not? Found a way to tell: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/mhdt-lab-pagoda-a-review.799153/ I'll check tonight when I get home and see which chip version I have. awsjr
did you ever check for a J or K chip marking ? new price ?
Gorm
Price is 900. I didn't check the chip. Given when it was made Late 2015, I'm going to assume it just has the regular chips in it. From the reviews I've read, it sounds like the new chips are not necessary better than the old ones. IT seems they reduced their quality to get them into production faster. Multiple reviews have stated that the J version especially isn't as musical as the older versions.

Shakeydeal
I can tell any potential buyer on the fence that this is a very good sounding DAC. Shakey
Gorm
I did check last night, the chips do not have any sort of special markings on them that would suggest they are the J version.
