JohnA
I bought a very nearly as new 1967 H700 (1E234, #234!) several years ago for a rear center speaker, thinking it would be easy to match it. Not. I've spent 10 years looking for one and finally found it. The second one is 1F742 with all of the same components inside. Later H700s have a different woofer. The new one was the one on ebay with the code H-HR-12. It appears to be still unfinished is is likely Hard Rock Maple. Both were made by Portus Gilley. Is this the original grille cloth? So, now I want to finish it in lacquer like 1E234. What it the closest finish to the '67 satin lacquer? I want a pair of short, slanted speaker stands to emulate Klipsch' slant riser base, but no screws in the the nice veneer! I have not found something I like, yet. What do you know about?

JohnA
I know, but I'm not putting screws into these guys!
Blvdre
Sure, but you could use a rubber friction tape around the top edge of the risers. Something that won't mark up the veneer.
wuzzzer
I used rubber angled door wedges for my Heresy IIs before I placed them on stands Easily adjustable, almost invisible and no damage to the underside of them. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/517gtF3gpAL._SL1200_.jpg
JohnA
LOL! well right now I have them each sitting on a a box of Federal 9mm, similar to your wedges. Works, but there is a more attractive alternative.
Moderators dtel Posted October 10, 2018 Moderators Share Posted October 10, 2018 Good looking speakers, those stands are cool and look pretty easy to make.
