I have the first two CDs... saw them live a couple times here in Chattanooga. We have a free outdoor concert series in the summer. Whew, that was over 20 years ago.

I think the first time was over 30 years ago.

That would have been a great free concert. Bet they overpriced the food and beer to make up for it, like they did at home when they'd build those stages all over downtown!

@AndreG. did I tell you how I got to love Lenny's music?

The hoity-toity crowd wanted brand new places for the symphony and shows downtown (never uptown, you yankees)

They set up an old hundred plus year old cathedral as the center of it all, then called it Spirit Square.

Lenny Kravitz was the house band for over a year! & I mean 5-6 nights a week he paid his dues. Those records came quickly after in the following years.

He was really good then, kinda flamboyant like a lot of the lead singers were in the 70s also, so a showman also.

Saw him a decade later at a UCF Homecoming game in the Citrus Bowl, Orlando. The sound was bigger and the tunes seemed so also!

ROCK ON Lenny!!

As I recall, the beer wasn't outrageously priced, and you could bring your own food, which we did. The area is pretty open, so they couldn't restrict access. Those were some fun times. Saw some great acts. Always opened with a local group before the main attraction.

@Invidiosulus I was being generous with the years and not wanting to admit how much time has passed.

@Marvel the race weeks starting off that festival downtown was the same as the others. Two or three blocks wide then a quarter mile south from there where I'd park. Was domesticated enough to bring food though I did at the park for the weekend Chamber Orchestral music... The Chicken Roasting Company usually!

Charlie Daniels' Band was always later whenever, wherever I saw them. So I got to see Travis Tritt one time before they got there and some other BIG time country act that I don't know who it was.

A different fest saw a headbanging band that blew my socks off with their early 90s radio hits plus more. Not sure if it was System of a Down or Puddle of Mud or whoever, was in my 30 and didn't follow that like when I was a teen in the late 70s.

@Marvel wait you had a dead skunk in the middle of the road?  😂  Looks like a great lineup for sure.  Lotsa places get hooked up w/a good promoter who knows the game so that's ALWAYS a plus.  One year I turned the county fair president (a lifelong friend) onto a good friend in Nashville.  He was skeptical but the end result?  Every year the shows were sold out with ppl driving from as far as NY for shows.  They made TONS of money.

Long story short?  He stepped back due to age and the guy who got his job decided they were going to go w/religious groups due to area church pressure.   Result?  You already know.  Now the demo derby is the highlight.  😂

Also been meaning to tell ya I FINALLY picked up some Molly tickets at a venue about 40 miles away.  I think the 25th of November.  Turned some GA standing only tickets down this spring in Cbus in Ohio State's south campus area.

Mah gf told me she was coming in so I had the news before it was ever announced.

Called the place w/questions and talked to the owner.  He wanted to know how I found out cause he just signed the contract the day before.  lolol  Told him a lil bird and he didn't like it much. 😂 Said he didn't know if they'd have seats or not.  I figured GA standing room only since the place had a capacity of 400.  Yup.  Sorry.

Never been in this fairly new venue but it's also smaller but built by Marathon Oil and donated to the city.  Cushy seats and row 5 center.  Headin up w/a hot lil wench and my buddy and his wife.  Gonna be a nice evening for sure.  Time to rape and pillage!  As if! 😂

@Dave1291 our Summer Nightfall series is free. The variety gives l  a chance to hear things you might not listen to. Bare Naked Ladies was outstanding. Richard Thompson was superb. David 'Fathead' Newman... awesome. Bela Fleck... of course.

Molly and her band will be here. Big venue... can't make it
