Coytee
I live in Knoxville. A guy I work with needed some help in Rogersville which happens to be the county seat of Hawkins county (not that it matters!) Five of us drove up there and spent the night to help him out. When I was looking for a hotel, I found the Hale Springs Inn. Built 1826 https://halespringsinn.com/ Turns out it's in the historic part of town, VERY charming neighborhood (same kind of atmosphere that you might find in Charleston, SC) Decided to stay here (other guys stayed at Holiday Inn or similar) Rumors of course had it locally that the place was haunted... (yawn) Put in for a room and I got President Polks room. Turns out he's the 11th President and prior Governor of TN. Did he stay here while President, civilian or Governor??? No idea. Was kind of neat just staying in such an old place. I was up early, maybe 5:30 and the light in the bathroom automatically turned the fan on. All I can say is that was one of the most obnoxious, loud fans I've ever been around. If it was in my house, it would have been swapped "this weekend" as having worn out. I was really kind of worried that I would wake have the hotel. Really interesting place.
Coytee
Oh, and I was told the floors are original. They had that wonderful "creak" when you walk on an old floor. I loved it.
