It is produced by Tabor Hill, which is only about 30 minutes from me (and they have a great restaurant by the way). Beautiful stop on the Michigan Wine Trail. Thank you for this! oldtimer
I have enjoyed a lot of the Tarapaca Gran Reserva Carmenere over the years. A very reasonably priced Chilean wine.
windashine
… the subject of the OP topic, I believe, without whining, would be an experience which was rated fair at the time (1974) however, it was a "whoosie" which made a lasting impression to never buy another bottle of wine again, simply... boone's farm strawberry hill... baron167
Drinking right now for sure!Agreed! So gd good. Needs little air. Powerful nose and loves a swirl. Deep flavors mimicking blackberries, mulberries, anise, and fruit forward bold cab. What happened to cabs aging well for 20 years? Nothing! This will continue to nature. Yes, it drinks well now, but will go to other levels in another 5 years (I'm thinking raisin profile). Into the vinocave for the 2 opened bottles.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jimjimbo
Those early Chateau St. Jean 2000's vintages were great for them, but then.....don't know what happened. Lost their mojo or something...winemaker change? At one point really enjoyed the Robert Young Vineyard chardonnay, but not anymore.

But was wondering if some of you goofballs might enjoy a more focused thread? So would I be considered a hack if I (and the wife) prefer Pinot Noir? We love the Belle Glos, Amici and Paul Hobbs but obviously can't afford to drink that regularly. We've found Tuli to be a decent everyday but would like to get even cheaper. Some of the Oregon's seem to be decent at a price point or </= $15. Thoughts or am I barking up the wrong tree? Yeah I realize the Pinot is a fickle grape.... 😀
sunburnwilly
Hey Billy , at that price point you should try McMurray Ranch from California and or Evesham Wood from Oregon . At a little above the price point you should try Sokol Blosser from Oregon .

RT FAN
I have been a big consumer of Spanish wine over the last 20 years. I find that they consistently overdeliver for their price point and represent real value for monies spent. I am lucky that here in NYC the wine store I use is the largest seller of Spanish wine in the nation. If they say buy it, I wave it in. here are a couple of recent purchases that have outstanding QPR. (Quality Price Ratio.) https://www.pjwine.com/34393/niel-santofimia-garnacha-blend-almansa-2014-750ml/ https://www.pjwine.com/36560/filon-real-garnacha-2013-90pts-vinous-750ml/ https://www.pjwine.com/26162/bodegas-ateca-garnacha-de-fuego-old-vines-calatayud-2014-90pts-vinous-750ml/ https://www.pjwine.com/33177/filon-garnacha-2014-750ml/ The wife and I are on our 3rd case of the Niel, just a killer value. The Filon Garnacha may be the best under $10 bottle I have had in recent memory. Good luck in finding them in your neck of the woods.
