JL Sargent
My son is getting a Blu-Ray player for his PC for Christmas. What software is good?
JL Sargent
It looks like there is all kinds of software for burning Blu-Rays, but what about software for watching movies purchased at a store?
JJkizak
I use Nero "Show Time" on the computer but there are many others. Show Time will show all 2K Blurays but I don't know about 4K. JJK

Thanks. The old Nero 8.1-1.0 with Bluray option. This software comes with a slug of stuff you don't need. I use this in Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit. I figured out that the new Blu-rays (those made in the last year or so) require that all hardware on the PC be HDCP 2.2 compliant before they will play to protect copyright. Cyberlink provides a nifty little program that will check a PC to verify that it meets this standard. They ask for a name and email but they don't check it. We bought PowerDVD Ultra 18 and my son is watching a commercial Blu-ray right now with no problem on his PC and it does meet the above mentioned standard.
