Lyle Beach
I am setting up a 5.2.4 and I have four RP-280FA's. Two of them will obviously be Front R and L main channels with the Atmos connected to "front presence", and of course my center channel (RP-450C) is connected to "center" My question is... What do I hook up the other two RP-280FA's to? I know the Atmos part of the tower goes to "rear presence" (on a Yamaha RX-A3080), but what do I plug the other terminals (main part of tower) into? Surround? Or Surround Back? Thanks Edited January 23, 2019 by Lyle Beach Typo
Lyle Beach
I should also mention that I have the speakers place in the configuration recommended by Dolby: https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-speaker-setup/5-1-4-setups.html
babadono
I'm no expert but I think your first set of "surround" speakers should go to the "surround" output. "surround back" would be speakers almost directly behind the listening position. check out https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-speaker-setup/7-1-4-setups.html from the same website. I agree, if you added two more then use rear surround.
wuzzzer
Surrounds first in a 5.x setup, placed to your side. A 7.x setup adds rear, or surround backs placed behind you.

zimdogg
I have those same towers for my front LR channels, but don't have the Atmos capabilities in my receiver yet. Curious as to what you decided on for your AVR?
