Hybrid integrated tube amps question

There are many hybrid integrated tube amps out there at an attractive price.

Being new to all this, I wonder what the difference is between a hybrid and a ''full' tube amp. I understand that a hybrid amp has transistors in the power section. But how does this affect the sound quality, for better or worse?

To me, a hybrid integrated tube amp means a pre-amplifier is part of the unit.  Is that what you were referring to?  Different manufacturers may have different ideas about how they designate their units.  Answering your question about SQ is very subjective and I think is very dependent on the circuit topology and the specific manufacturer.

This is just one example, there are many out there, some made in China, like this one, but others are 'first world' products as well.

https://www.tagaharmony.com/en/products/3655/home-electronics/product/1144/hta-25b

"HTA-25B is a 25W / 4ohm high-fidelity but still affordable hybrid integrated amplifier utilizing two 6P1 and two 6N1 tubes in the preamp section and transistors at the output powered by an audiophile grade toroidal power transformer. This solution ensures a very warm, linear and lifelike sound with high dynamic presentation at the same time."

Another non Chinese hybrid.

Rouge Audio Sphinx

Hybrid tube (pre) and 100 watt Hypex module (power).  US made.

The Taga says:

'Engineered and Designed in the European Union,

made in China.'

At least they are honest about it.

Thought all their stuff was made in Pennsylvania. Live and learn.

I'm not sure I understand you well. The Rouge Audio Sphinx is made in the US, right?

It is the Taga that is made in China, all be it a European design.
