AmG
I know absolutely nothing about sound systems, can anyone help me determine an amp that would work with the RP-150M bookshelf speakers? One that is affordable, I saw some on the website for 800-1000+, I definitely don't want to spend that much! Thank you!
teaman
Depending on how loud you listen there is an integrated amp from Emotiva at a good price. A real 50 wpc should do fine for your speakers. $400 with a three year warranty and free 30 day in home trial. https://emotiva.com/collections/pre-amps/products/ta-
willland
@AmG, Welcome to the forum. Is this amp for a 2-channel music rig or a multichannel home theater setup? A little more information about your goals for this system would be helpful. Bill
AmG
Hello, thank you for the responses, this will be for a music set up, not for a home theater.
willland
What are you using presently? Bill
willland
I think a medium powered integrated amp will be plenty or maybe a stereo receiver. Maybe one of these. https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamas501bl/yamaha-a-s501-2-ch-x-85-watts-integrated-amplifier-w/built-in-dac-black/1.html https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrn803bl/yamaha-r-n803-2-ch-x-100-watts-networking-stereo-receiver/1.html Bill
glens
What do you plan to "feed" it? If a turntable, you'll need something with a phono input, not all "modern" equipment has that. If you stream digital content and don't already have a device with which to capture and provide it either via digital or analog outputs to whatever you're contemplating now, then I suggest making sure whatever you get has that capability built in. For that wi-fi is certainly more convenient than hard-wired. DNLA capability is definitely desirable, too. I'm a fan of NAD gear and use/recommend their C338, but it doesn't have tone controls, pre-amp outputs, or any "tape loops" which all have use to many folks. It does have a phono input, very capable wireless (ac), DLNA, as well as Google Chromecast audio built in. A solid 50 watts/channel. I guess they're going for ~$650 new. I got mine "factory refurb" for less.

BernardLVH
Try one of the NAD BEE series integrated amps. Great price and great sound. And they can drive almost anything.
