I've been using Crown XTI 1000's, soon to be 1002's. also has a built in DSP for Bi-amping.

Haha ... ordered a XLS 2502 a couple of days ago :D  And yes, probably "overkill," but found a (customer return) 2502 on Reverb ... cheaper than I could find a 1002 :)

Add-on note ... S/N on the 1002 is not as good as the 1502/etc ... no clue if it matters :D

I found your amp!  This will give you some headroom.  throwingmoney.gif    If you buy two, you can have 2200 watts into 8 ohms RMS / continuous output on both channels...

Meet the Electro Voice CP3000S:

(The one on eBay is at $499 and $40 shipping)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Electrovoice-CP3000S/223528763095?hash=item340b5a3ed7:g:hUYAAOSwtyRc6Dtr

Electro-Voice's Precision Series Compact amplifiers offer proven Precision Series performance and reliability in a compact, lightweight format. This is made possible by incorporating a highly efficient Class-H design, which results in considerably less heat being generated. This allows the overall size of the amplifier to be reduced substantially without sacrificing performance or reliability. The CP3000S is not only the first Precision Series amplifier to use a switch-mode power supply, but also the first switch-mode amplifier with EV's Precision Series sound. With up to 2 x 1600 watts into 2 ohms and 2 x 1100 watts into 4 ohms, it is both powerful and lightweight, at only 17.96 lbs (8.15 kg). The CP3000S is state-of-the-art for all kinds of applications. It is specifically designed to allow for long-term driving of low loads into subwoofers without stress. The CP3000S's reliability and its pleasing, rich sound make it the first choice for all mid- and hi-range speaker cabinets.

Specifications:

  • Amplifier Gain (dB): 32dB
  • Continuous rated power (1k Hz, THD 1%) 2Ω: 1600 Watts
  • Continuous rated power (1k Hz, THD 1%) 4Ω: 1100 Watts
  • Input Impedance (balanced): 20 kΩ
  • Continuous rated power (1k Hz, THD 1%) 8Ω: 600 Watts
  • Continuous rated power (20-20k Hz, THD<0,2%) 4Ω: 900 Watts

Once you spot the specification that actually matters, 20-20k Hz into 8 ohms, the power figure is a realistic but less impressive 450 Watts per channel, and the distortion figure is a bit high at 0.2%.  If you want to keep the distortion lower, the power will have to be kept lower, too.  As well, although pro sound power amps aren't generally as expensive as high quality home audio amps, they're often somewhat noisier, which is a bad combination with high-sensitivity speakers like most Klipsch models.
