Islander
That was interesting. Thanks for sharing it! Now I’m curious about the sound in an anechoic room.
ricktate
Well if you go to the Klipsch Pilgrimage you can go inside a very special one. It has a several ton rotating door made to test not only speakers but the Klipschorn also.

Need to come to the gathering and check it out. It is one of the coolest and weird feelings .
glens
If singing is made easier in the shower then it's safe to guess it would be more difficult there?
Shiva
Wow, that is a lot of fiberglass, I trust that it is all solid and doesn't introduce particulates to the air.
Max2
Nice find. A lot of good selling points on why people should be buying acoustic panels instead of worrying about other variables not as important. Engineer: "Echo's interfere with measurements." Tuba player says: " I could finally hear the details for once." Cimbal crash could be heard decaying down to the minute level. Engineer: "The weight is lifted from your ears." Great explanations on the rewards of room treatment and showing how most will never hear the difference in components, recordings or mods until they start treating their room. tigerwoodKhorns
There was one when I was in engineering school. Weird feeling. Sound only comes from one direction when people talk.
Ceptorman
I've been inside the one in Indy a few times, fun to play with.
Moderators dtel Posted January 31, 2019 Moderators Share Posted January 31, 2019 It is a strange feeling inside one and not just what you hear, it just feels different, they say your ears also work with your brain to help keep your balance. They say if they turn off the lights you will eventually fall down ? There is a rubber bladder that inflates to seal off the small crack around the door. The door rotates and has 4 different sides to be able to test anything. The chamber in Hope.
windashine
I'm checking in Thursday, to make the plant tour on Friday... that is like totally awesome if we can go inside ! The Marching Band Video inside the chamber was interesting too... raises a lot of "what if" questions for me.... I suppose the door rotation looks like it can form a corner for the Klipschorn... another thing comes too mind - how does the cleaning crew vacuum the floor? Will there be a demonstration audio test from a speaker during the tour... Does the option exist for temperature extremes, such as listening at 32 degree's then 72 degree's... I've always wondered lol... figured I'd speculate here so an escort out of the building doesn't occur...

One or two days drive would be okay, but over 2400 miles/3900 km. is too much for me. 1

I don't think there is much cleaning of the floor, maby with a shop vac in the cracks, wouldn't want that job. The door is big and heavy it turns pretty easy but does take alot of force. There are different sides, one with all the cones, another flat like a corner and one with a way to attach panels to test just drivers or in-ceiling /wall speakers, can't remember what the other one is. It's a strange place, to get an idea of the size. The door weighs tons, I forget how many we were told. 1
Coytee
Interesting that the Khorn is ...well....in the corner but the Jubilee was in free space
Drugolf
I guess HP has one here at their facility in Boise. I should try to get a tour of it. Take some measuring software and a driver or two while I'm at it!
