Quiet_Hollow
Have owned Klipsch La Scala since 2005. Never had a single complaint from the neighbors using them...even at "spirited" levels.

Quiet_Hollow
Probably got more to do with pairing them with a quality subwoofer. When you go 2.1 or 2.2, all the power gets routed to the sub....factor in choosing just the right high-pass filter and the La Scala are literally running on less than 0.1 watt even at full tilt. At that point shit's falling off the walls and the couch is levitating at the listening position, but can't hear it outside.

At that point shit's falling off the walls and the couch is levitating at the listening position, but can't hear it outside. Depends on what you consider to be full tilt. I've turned off my sub and run the Khorns above the 80 Hz crossover at what read at 107 dB SPL at 13 feet in a 4,250 cu.ft. room. That takes 16 watts. Orchestral 116 dB brief peaks (milliseconds) take 128 watts in the same room at the same distance. True, though, it takes only 1 watt to produce 95 dB at 13 feet in that room. 0.1 watt would produce more like 85 dB at 13 feet. We have very thick walls in our house, and the neighbors are a ways away. The couch does levitate. In our former house we had a floating floor, and double walls with an air space between, but the neighbors could hear the Khorns from time to time.

Exactly, and I don't care what the neighbors think.............. I do not want it at full tilt, I'm scared to think what that would sound like, my dogs would probably run away, the wife would probably hit me with something. 1
glens
Yeah, but you could put the dogs outside, give yourself and your wife earplugs, crank it for a few minutes, then all the dust can be easily picked up with the sweeper, with the setup you've got... Moderators dtel Posted February 16, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 16, 2019 I would need bigger amps to go full tilt, but it's already crazy with 50 wpc no more power needed, it would hurt.
Pete H
True story. I bought my home about 10 years ago and installed 2 small outdoor speakers for the pool, the first day that I was outside and playing them at background noise levels I met one of my neighbours that came walking through the woods on a mission, all 5' of him, fists clenched, stomping through my back yard and his face (I'll call him troll) was already bright red. Rather than having a calm conversation about his total disdain for music, he proceeded to go into a little 1 minute rant about my lack of consideration for others, how rude I was, my loud music (it was so low that we could have had a normal conversation without raising our voices at all), blah, blah blah. After the first minute and when he finally took a breath and wiped the spit off of his bottom lip, I reached out my hand and said, "hi, my name is Pete and I'm going to count to 10 and if you're not back in your hole you will be escorted from my property and you would be making a mistake to ever step foot on it again" "one, two" never though those little legs could move that fast. LOL I already knew that my township had no zoning or noise ordinances and I proceeded to pull out the RF7's and a sub and put them on the deck and worked the rest of the day outside, demonstrating what "loud" actually was while playing Metallica, AC/DC and various other artists that would raise the hair on his arms. The neighbours got to know me that day! Over the next few years, I only got to visit with his golden retriever who loved me and would come over and play every chance he could get away. It was even funnier when Denise and I went to our home golf course and he had taken a part time job as the starter and left his post when he saw us pulling up to the first Tee and had no clue that we were close friends with the owners and golfed there every week. Some people are just miserable in their lives but the rest of the people that live within listening distance are all positive and at times when the shop is rocking, I will get requests for specific music. I was never built to live in a city or even a development. Wish I had Rodney's spread! Rock On! 2
MEH Synergy
I hear you man. I try to be respectful to my neighbors, but I like loud music from time to do. When I do so, it's usually indoors with all doors and windows closed and usually mid day on an off day. Always off before it needs to be. Outdoors is seldom as I know that is what bothers neighbors the most. Im not one of those that complains when others have company and events that get loud/ go late. That's just me I guess....
Pete H
I'm in the process of looking for 15-25 acres and when the right piece comes along, I'm going to build and get a little more elbow room. Until then, I do try and keep it respectful regarding the hours, with some exceptions when I'm working in the shop with the doors open and there are a few adult beverages involved. 😈 1

I try to be respectful to my neighbors I do also, they are far enough away for the inside stereo to only hear it a little if they are outside so it's not a problem. The bigger set for outside I usually point toward the wooded area on two of sides of the property, they could still hear it but it's not directed at them and no complaints. They all have been told if they wanted to have an outside party let me know I will drop off a set for them to use, or run it for them, even more fun for me. The smaller speakers are in the tiki bar, Heresy's, I would guess this time they could hear the people over the music at times. It started out ok and I had to keep turning it up to keep up with the noise made from talking and laughing. People tend to get louder as they get more lubricated this ended about 3-330 the next morning I would guess, about 40 people at the peak. No complaints

CECAA850
I've had the police over on 2 separate occasions. They were nice but I had to turn it down. The last big party I had (several years ago) I had a big advantage. One of my co-workers was good friends with the police dispatcher. She'd text us when they got a call and were headed our way. After they rolled by we'd get an all clear text. Worked great. The back yard neighbor I have now is a good guy. If I get too loud he'll text me and I'll turn it down. If I don't notice the text he'll flash the outside lights in his back yard. 1

garyrc
In the deep past, I've had problems. A neighbor might say, "I can hear it all the way over here." I've been tempted to say, "So?" They hear lawn mowers, leaf blowers, traffic on the street, kids playing (screaming), etc. When I used to live in Berkeley, I loved the fact that near campus there was always music in the air. One city forbids music that can be heard 50 feet away. Heard? 50 feet from your property line? Under what wind conditions? Naturally the police didn't know. I try to be careful, and haven't had a problem since I was in high school, with my horn loaded JBLs. I never have, and never would, make police complaint about music. I was tempted when the neighbor's party guests were laughing up a drunken storm and were talking very loudly in their back yard at about 2:00 AM. I just put the pillow over my ear. Live and let live.
