Audion Sterling Anniversary integrated EL34 Hard wired amp ANOTHER PRICE DROP

Recommended Posts

I have lowered the asking price for this from $1,250 to $1,150 to NOW $1,000   $900! (plus shipping and Paypal). This amp is a current production model. This amp comes with the "integrated option" and has a current retail of $4,098.

Here's a little more about this amp provided by one of Audion's stateside importers:

http://trueaudiophile.com/audion-sterling-stereo-el-34-anniversary-hw-stereo-amp/

I have had this Audion Sterling integrated for about 3 years now. Honestly, it's my favorite amp I've ever had. I have paired it with Klipsch Cornwalls, Kilpshorns, and Cornscalas all with outstanding results. This amp is handmade in France and features point to point wiring and uses American and European parts exclusively.

The only reason I'm selling is because I need to reduce the footprint of my system. After being a stay at home caregiver for the last three years, I'm going back to work at the end of this year, and I'll be needing as compact of a system as possible. As a result, I'm moving to an integrated amp with a headphone out and a remote. If it were not for me needing these features to better fit in my new workspace, I would never sell this amp.

I am including two really nice NOS tubes in the sale. I am throwing in two matched Tesla EL34 tubes and two Paano 6H23N-EB tubes. These tubes retailed for $270 when new. I will include them at my asking price. They have less than 10 hours on them. No lie.

From the Audion site:

Audion Sterling Anniversary integrated stereo is hard wired point to point using better graded components and & larger Audion wound output transformers (EI96) & hand built. This pentode based EL34 stereo amp uses a small amount of feedback in the design. The chassis is black powder coated aluminum as is the transformer cover. The top plate and badge are mirror finished stainless steel.

This combination makes for smooth transients, good signal handling and tight response curves. There is an audible difference with the Anniversary products, due to the larger transformers and better grade components over the Mk1 printed circuit board models

Amplifier matching

This Sterling is suited for use with loudspeakers of 89db or better efficiency. Ideally matched with our range of Proton cables. The amp delivers 12 watts into 8 ohms. It can be changed internally to work with 4 ohm loudspeakers too. Our integrated model comes with 5 line level inputs and a straight thru tape output switched from the front panel. Options are available for this model, see upgrade options at end.

Quality both inside and out

Having a volume control on the front and 5 stereo inputs on the rear means that a pre-amplifier is not necessary with this unit, unless a phono stage is needed. The amp is auto biased. It will take almost any EL34 (Unit is supplied with Electro Harmonix tubes)

The Sterling is a good entry level hard wired (Air Wired©) Class A power amplifier, sonically very airy with good response. Integrated option (Standard stereo input is available)

The Integrated Sterling is built with components sourced from Europe and the US. Where possible we avoid the use of any Chinese component. Our output transformers are wound in-house to our exacting standards and many of the components are either made by us or specifically for us. We use Electro Harmonix EL34 and Russian New old stock 6H1N as a driver and input tubes.

One last thing:

I bought this amp based off some suggestions from other users on the forums. I originally purchased this to pair it with Cornwall IIIs, and it was OUTSTANDING. I have also used this amp with Klipschorns and some Cornscalas built by Justin Weber. This thing was absolutely perfect with all of them, although I thought it really packed a punch with the Cornwalls. Ig you have a set of CWs, Klipschorns, or Hereseys, I would recommend this amp without reservations. I have tried it with all three speakers and absolutely loved it. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.

Very nice components you've put up here lately Mr. Grapples up at WFU!

If you had posted this a year or two ago we could have done business.

As it stands unless you want to trade your JW Cornscalas for 99db sensitive F3s & super Hs, don't have enough benjamins right now!

Thanks for the kind words!

As for trading my JW Cornscalas, I think they might be my forever speakers until I move into a new space, which hopefully won't be for twenty years or so. Yes, they are that good. I highly recommend them if you're ever interested.

Just a quick note: if anyone is interested in this amp and can meet me between Winston-Salem and Atlanta tomorrow, get in touch with an offer. Definitely willing to take a little off the asking price for a smooth and quick transaction. I’m getting a ton of messages (on another site) asking me to ship this, and I really would prefer a local/in-person sale.

Oh, and this IS the current production model

Bump for the price drop. Let me know if you have any interest. I'd guess shipping to be about $50-$75 depending on how far this is going.

GLWS.  It looks great (and I am sure sounds great).  If it had the remote option too, I would likely have to jump on it.

Believe it or not, that’s a $700 add on. Wish a remote could be paired with these for cheaper. I certainly would’ve sprung for one if that had been the case

Bump for another price drop. I have taken a total of $150 off this time because I noticed some wear to the screws on the bottom plate when taking photos of the inside for a potential buyer. The crews are not stripped and are usable. I have never taken the bottom off before, so I just saw this wear.

My price is fair and firm. I will not drop the price again. If it doesn't sell at this price, I'll just keep it. A remote can be added to this unit but would require shipping it to France and paying duty fees. It wouldn't be cheap, but it could be done.

I could do a package deal with this and the CSP2+. I have used them together with great results for the past little while. I love the performance of both, but need a more compact and remote controllable set up. I am not selling these items because of any performance problems/issues.

I will look into it.  I need to clear out some gear, which opens up some options for new stuff...

Bump for another price drop. Shipping this today would work really well with my schedule. Let's find it a new home. This thing is all packed and ready to go.

Don't want to interfere with opusk2k9, but I am interested in the El34 and the csp2+. Has to be mailed. Sorry. PM me if that's ok.

Sadly, my coffers are currently empty until I sell some stuff.  I think you will be very happy!

Responded to Racoo’s post. Currently holding the items until he responds. I’ll update this thread if they sell.
