Amp for rp800fs

@RichardW,

Welcome to the forum.

Warmer because the Marantz is not warm enough?

Maybe look at a B&K Reference 200.3, Reference 4430, or a Reference 3220.  B&K uses Mosfet output transistors which are considered by many to be "warmer" sounding than amps with bipolar transistors.  I would have to agree with that from my experience.

Thanks For the reply Bill. The Marantz sounds great for movies but when I use it for music it comes across as bright sounding, almost tinny. I tried hooking up my old adcom 555 and they have a greater soundstage but even “brighter” sounding if you will. Looking for a smoother sound.

Funny you say that because I think non Reference Marantz now leans more neutral than their iconic stereo receivers and integrated amps of the 70's.  I am a neutral kind of guy for HT and music so though I really liked the B&K amps I used to own and their warmer presentation , the more neutral Acurus amps I currently own really extract what I prefer in sound.
